Three-Day Cluster In-Service Training (INSET) for Teachers on DepEd Order No. 31 S. 2020
(Taganito, Hayanggabon and Punta Naga Elementary Schools Cluster)

NARRATIVE REPORT

In line with the commitment of the Department of Education to ensure the continuity of
teaching and learning process despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic where the
health, safety, and well-being of its learners, teachers and personnel are at stake, Deped launched
the DepEd Order No. 31 s. 2020 or the Interim Policy Guidelines for Assessment and Grading in Light
of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan as remedy to the issues arise during this pandemic.

In order to properly cascade this policy guideline to the teaching personnel, the
administrators discussed thoroughly to the teachers the details of this guideline. This serves as guide
in assessing the learners and the grading scheme to be adopted for this school year.

The training was a three-day activity that started from March 17, 2021 and ended on March
19, 2021 held at Taganito Elementary School Gym. There were 62 teacher-participants from
Taganito, Hayanggabon and Punta Naga elementary schools led by the following administrators:
Jasmenia S. Montevirgen, Principal III, Merlita E. Terezo, Head Teacher III and Custodia S. Dela Pena,
HeaD Teacher I, respectively. They also served as the facilitators of the training.

Day one started with great energy as the host school, Taganito ES led the mode of learning
(MOL) for the day. Teacher-participants were divided into five groups. Each group were asked to
name their group based on what inspired them. Topics discussed were the following: 1) Orientation
of DO 31 s. 2020; 2) Review on Weekly Home Learning Plan; 3) Review on Individual Learning
Monitoring Plan; 4) Assessing Student-Learning and Assessment of Learning (Formative Assessment);
and 4) Promoting and Grading learners in the new normal assessment of learning (Summative
Assessment). The participants in every group were cooperative and participative on the activities
given by the facilitators. Everyone shared their thoughts and ideas. It was a great day full of learnings
as the teachers were able to throw questions to the facilitators which were answered right away.

Moreover, the second day of the training was as lively as the first day where Punta Naga ES
served as the MOL of the day. A recapitulation was made that refreshes the minds of the
participants. New learnings were added as topics on the following were discussed by the same
facilitators: 1) grading performance task; 2) rubrics; 3) Student portfolio; and 4) e-class record. The
facilitators required the teachers to submit the outputs needed based on what have been discussed
and agreed on the first day. Before the day ends, the cluster participants had a little socialization
gathering in order to break the monotony of the training.

The third day of the training was even more enthusiastic as this is the closing day.
Feedbacking of outputs and recapitulation of the second day was made. Hayanggabon ES led the
training program of the day as they were the MOL of the said day. The occasion was graced by the

Claver Public Schools District Supervisor, Dr. Joselito P. Manongas who gave his valuable message to
the teachers. Impressions of the training were also shared by the selected participants. This was
followed by the giving of certificates to the participants and facilitators.

Together, we will be able to hit the goal which is to provide quality education to the
children. This wouldn’t be possible without the collaboration of each and every one. Even with the
turmoil brought by the pandemic, we must stand firm because we are the frontliner and we are here
to serve our purpose: to educate the children amid the challenges and scaffold the parents who are
our partner in serving this purpose.
