WEEK 13 Module Activity

1. What does your grit score mean?

2. Is perseverance a trait? Why?
3. What is grit and perseverance?
4. How do you train grit?

ANSWER:
1. Your Grit score measures the extent to which an individual are able to maintain focus and
interest, and persevere in obtaining long-term goals.  It means how convinced I am that
I’m sticking with what I want and that Im going to do it no matter what, that I will
persevere, and won’t be disheartened by small struggles , the Grit Score shows how focus
I am to achieve or maintain the goal that I have.
2. Yes Perseverance is a trait , it actually is he most powerful trait that a leader could have ,
More than simply trying hard, perseverance is a gut-generated determination to not give
in and never give up. It comes from a spirit that refuses to accept the failure of quitting. A
leader who perseveres stands ready to endure for the long haul. Successful accomplishers
are always chasing something greater: goals that are difficult to achieve. They feel they
have something to prove—to themselves and/or others. They have direction, know what
they want and hate falling short of it. Leaders with perseverance strive to excel.
As Duckworth puts it, perseverance is a satisfaction with being unsatisfied. Dogged
leaders continually measure how far they’re willing to push themselves and how much
they want to win.
3. As Duckworth defines it, grit is passion and sustained persistence applied toward long-
term achievement, with no particular concern for rewards or recognition along the way. It
combines resilience, ambition, and self-control in the pursuit of goals that take months,
years, or even decades. Perseverance on the other hand is persisting toward your goals
despite obstacles, discouragements, or disappointments. Perseverance is sticking with
things. It means being hardworking and finishing what is started, despite barriers and
obstacles that arise. Perseverance involves the voluntary continuation of a goal-directed
action despite the presence of challenges, difficulties, and discouragement. There are two
vectors of perseverance. It requires both effort for a task and duration to keep the task up.
4. You should cultivate growth mindset, those with a growth mindset see new ideas,
projects and even challenges as opportunities to embrace. Within this mental framework,
failure is acknowledged as an inevitable part of life — one that can be harnessed and
learned from, channeling potentially negative experiences into future successes. You
should define your goals and purpose People with grit focus on their long-term vision:
this provides a sense of purpose as you work to meet the individual goals needed to
realize your ultimate dream. Purpose is key to sustaining passion and perseverance,
whether in times of success or setbacks.
