We as a country, produce 1.4 million tonnes of garbage annually, and 60% of it is household waste.
And 150 thousand kilograms of the waste is classified as toxic waste that we simply dump at a landfill.
As of right now, we have no way of organizing our waste. We simply have to throw it away respectfully.
Plastic waste can last in the environment for 450 to 1000 years. Which is very disturbing. But sadly, the
products have become one of our daily needs. Plastic bottles and bags are very much convenient, but it’s
also effect is in a very poor outcome.
Glass and plastic drink containers take 1000 years, metal cans and tins take 80 years, DIAPERS!!!!!!!
take 200 to 500 years to be fully decomposed.
Regular paper waste takes 2 to 6 weeks to decompose. And according to researchers, if we recycle 1
tonne of paper waste, we will save 17 mature trees from being cut down.
Here are a list of waste and how long it takes them to decompose:
Always remember to pick a product with a package that is recyclable, so it helps our environment in the
future.
In modern society, 36% of our waste consists of food waste. So we must be careful and mindful in our
consumption.
Instead of throwing away old clothes, donate them, make reusable bags out of them. So that factories
and companies can seize manufacture of products which in return helps the environment.
Many people, and families who live in an apartment, work at a school, or a hospital produce a decent
amount paper waste, cloth waste. So all of that can repurposed into secondary materials.
Our capital Ulaanbaatar produces 36% food waste, 22% plastic, 22% paper, 9% glass, 7% metal, 4%
cloth waste in the summer. But also in the winter, we produce 49% ash, 23% food waste, 14% plastic,
13% paper, 1% cloth waste.
So in conclusion after all, all of these numbers cant put away and solve our waste problems. We
should be teaching every single citizen that we are one in the same and every action matters to this
problem directly. One man cleaning the streets doesn’t matter if there are thousand, maybe millions who
throw away more trash. So we should seize our consumptions, and start organizing, distributing, and
recycling for ourselves, and our beloved future.
At first, start form If we organize our waste and give them to the places that can reutilize,
repurpose the waste, we can slow down the momentum of landfill waste.
