SEX, SEXUALITY AND REPRODUCTION

English version: Sexuality is one of those things that everyone knows what it is, but it's
not easy to define: we live it, we feel it, we experience it, and we know it affects our
relationships with others. However, perhaps because of this intuitive knowledge we
have of it, sexuality also generates a lot of doubt or confusion. In addition, sexuality is
ambiguous, because for each person it means different things.

Don't confuse sex and sexuality

SEX is what distinguishes us as a man or woman, depending on certain differences in

cellular, morphological, physiological and psychological characters.

SEXUALITY is a distinct, richer concept that does not come down to genital organs. It
is a human dimension that represents our whole being. Our whole body is sexed up; this
implies that we can get pleasure through any of its parts, from the skin to the genitals
themselves.

Sexuality is:

• A source of communication and pleasure.

• A way to express affectivity.

• One way to discover yourself and the other.

• Satisfaction of desire and sexual impulse.

Sexuality can be: A reproductive activity when freely and accountably you want to
assume.

Because sexuality and reproduction are not the same, nor do they necessarily have to be
linked, THE OBJECT OF FAMILY PLANNING IS:

• To be able to enjoy sexuality in its richness and breadth, detaching the sexual activity
of the breeder.

• Be able to decide when to have a child.

Sexuality, in short, is an always open and largely very personal concept: the idea that
each person has of sexuality depends on his character, his affective and social situation,
the education he has received, in his way of thinking, feeling and relating to others.
Hence, although we have sexuality since we were born, the way we understand and
manifest it is a process of learning, conditioned by sexual education and personal
experiences.

No confundas sexo y sexualidad
