Assignment-1
An organ system comprises of several organs linked together to
perform one or more specific functions. There are 11 major organ
systems in our body. One of them is the circulatory system or the
cardiovascular system which supplies oxygen and nutrients to body
cells. The whole process executed by the heart, arteries and veins. Then
comes the digestive and the excretory system which have closely
related set of functions i.e. digesting the food, absorbing the essentials
and eliminating the unnecessary and toxic waste products. The whole
mechanism is carried out by certain organs, namely, the mouth,
esophagus and the intestines. The endocrine system comprising of the
pituitary glands, hypothalamus, thyroid glands and a few other that
provide communication via hormones. The integumentary system or
the exocrine system comprising of the skin, hair, nails, sweat and other
exocrine glands work to waterproof, to excrete wastes and maintain
body temperatures, also an attachment site for sensory receptors to
detect stimuli. The lymphatic system is a clear network of lymphatic
vessels which carry lymph. The immune system defends the body from
pathogens which infect the body by differentiating body cells from
foreign cells. Muscular system comprising of the skeletal, smooth and
cardiac muscles which enables movement and locomotion. Nervous
system collects and processes information from the senses using the
nerves, spinal cord and the brain. The renal system and urinary system
works together to filter blood, reabsorb essentials and get rid of waste
materials. Kidney, bladders, ureters, urethra are part of the
interconnected systems. Respiratory system (pharynx, larynx, trachea,
bronchi and the diaphragm) brings air in and out of the body to absorb
oxygen. The skeletal system is the bony framework specialized in giving
shape, protection to the body and facilitates movement. Bone marrow,
tendons, filaments also are parts of the skeletal system. Lastly, the
reproductive system is specialized for reproduction (production of
genetically similar offspring)
