Teniendo en cuenta lo reforzado en clase sobre PRESENTE SIMPLE, completar el siguiente texto. No olvidar
agregar –s, -es, ies a los verbos cuando se refiere a SHE / HE. Asi mismo no olvidar el uso de DON’T / DOESN’T
para las oraciones negativas.

Hello, my name is Patricia and I am a nurse. I have a beautiful family. My husband, Pedro, my son Julian and my
daughter Catalina. We _________(live) in a beautiful house. We _________(have) 3 pets: one cat and three
dogs. I ________(work) in a hospital and Pedro __________(work) in a school because he is a teacher. My son
Julian __________(study) in the university and my daughter Catalina __________(study) in the kindergarten. I
__________(get up) early to take my daughter to the Kindergarten, then I come home, I ______________(have
breakfast) at 9:00 am, then I clean the house and I make lunch. After I _____________(sleep) at 11:00 am
because I go to work at 5:00 pm. I _______________(no sleep) at night because I work from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am.
Pedro ___________(go) to school at 5:30 am and he returns home at 1:00 pm. He _______________(go) to pick
up our daughter and we ____________________(have lunch together). Pedro ______________(no watch TV),
he _____________(read) books. Catalina ______________(play) with her toys, and Julian ______________(do)
homework for his university. Unfortunately we _________________(no spend) time together because I work
too much, but we are happy.

3. Tambien se puede expresar lo que le GUSTA y lo que NO LE GUSTA a otra persona. En ese caso recordemos que
si estamos hablando de SHE – HE usamos LIKES Y DOESN’T LIKE.

PRESENT PROGRESSIVE (CONTINUOUS)

(a) I am sitting in class right now. (am + V + -ing)
(b) Rita is sitting in class right now. (is + V + -ing)
(c) You are sitting in class right now. (are + V + -ing)
In (a): When I say this sentence, I am in class. I am
sitting. I am not standing. The action (sitting) is
happening right now, and I am saying the sentence at the
same time.
am, is, are = helping verbs
sitting = the principal verb

am, is, are + V + -ing = the present progressive tense*

(d) I am not sleeping. I am awake.

(e) He isn’t listening to the teacher. He’s daydreaming. Subject + am, is, are + not + V -ing = the present progressive
(f) Mr. and Mrs. Brown aren’t watching TV. They are reading tense*
the newspaper.

(g) Is Mary sleeping?

Yes, she is. (She is sleeping.) Am, Is, Are + S + V -ing = the present progressive tense*
No, she’s not. (She’s not sleeping.)
