Things to start with:

 City? Why at that particular city?

 Unique features like
o Swimming pool,
o CrossFit training,
o Self-defence classes,
o Extra discounts for working professionals,
o Open air area (probably lawn or roof-top) for older age group (because old people
can feel uncomfortable in closed spaces),
o Best machines and weights,
o Affordable membership ( discount slabs),
o Professional trainers for both genders, special day for a speaker( just for an
interactive one-to-one session), tailored body building advice from former
competitors for meal planning, training periodization and body composition analysis.
o Featuring gym member/ trainer every week( like either posting their picture on the
social media handle or just putting it in the gym saying why they are spectacular- it’s
like Fitness marketing is not only about attracting new members but keeping your
current members happy),
o Weight loss challenge (either for a fee or free), this would help our existing members
achieve their goals and get new customers.
o Provide customized meal plans (this is something new because every trainer
provides meal plan according to himself, but in our plans the trainer will provide it
according to the member considering what he can afford and what’s easily available
for him/her(would be of great help to students)).
o Free quarterly pass for 1 night 2 days stay at resort.

Things to consider when talking about marketing in your gym business plan:

o Suitable marketing channels - refer to your customer demographics to figure out which media your target customer
consumes. These may include:

1. Social media advertising

2. Online advertising
3. Print marketing
4. Leafleting
5. Posters
6. Special introductory offers
7. Free giveaways

 Marketing budget - how much are you able to spend on marketing in total?
 Cost per acquisition - how much are you willing to spend per new member?

Location Requirements and Licensing for Gym in India:

  A wisely chosen location will have an added advantage of free marketing. Therefore, try
to choose a location, which is in the main market so that you get the maximum exposure.
 According to the services that you plan to start, have your construction done accordingly.
Like, if you plan for yoga and cardio classes, you have to construct an equal number of rooms
for that. For water aerobics and swimming, you have to arrange for an indoor pool.
 Also, always keep extra space for future expansions. You never know what extra
requirements you might need.
 You need to take a mandatory police clearance for opening the gym.
 If your business turnover is more than 9 lakh, you need to register here for Service Tax
Registration.
Estimated Capital Investment for Gym in India:
 Finally, when you have calculated everything, it is time to calculate expenses.
 Taking construction costs in mind, building a multi-functional gym can cost you anything
between INR 5, 00,000-10, 00,000.
 Having the standard equipment and installing charges will amount to something about
INR 5,00,000 to INR 30,00,000
 Hiring staff for maintenance can cost you anything from INR 30,000 to 60,000
 Having a gym also calls for gym trainers. Hiring trainers can cost you between INR
20,000 to 1, 00,000, depending if you keep separate trainers for men and women and how
much time they give to the gym.
 Almost INR 5,000 on monthly servicing of equipment and other expenses, considering
that your gym is of high budget.

They further revealed that Indians tend to choose very basic forms of exercise - as many
as two-thirds (67%) of Indians who exercise typically do brisk walking. This is followed
by 26% of Indians who do yoga/pilates/CrossFit, 11% who do cardio and team sports (e.g.
football, cricket), respectively, and 10% who do bodyweight exercises (e.g. push-ups,
pull-ups, squats).

They reason for choosing very basic forms of exercise is the fact that exercises
involving gyms and fitness classes tend to be more expensive.
The research also studied the growth in sports nutrition product launches in 2018; of the
total launches seen in the sports nutrition category between 2015-2018 in India, 65%
happened in 2018. Of the sports nutrition products launched in India in 2018, 93% carried
functional claims. Specifically, ‘weight and muscle gain’ (69%), ‘energy’ (45%) and
‘immunity’ (22%) are some of the top functional claims in India’s sports nutrition product
category.

However, there seems to be a lack of awareness as 13% of Indians claim that they don't
know enough about sports nutrition products and 11% believe that these products
are harmful if consumed without rigorous exercise, reveals Mintel research.

in the calorie burn" let's make Hyderabad burn some Calorie, no?
The data also reveals that South India is a tad fitter than North India. South Indians burn 408
calories (29 per cent higher than last year) on an average daily and North Indians burn around 382
calories (24 per cent more than 2017) daily. Also South Indians take more than 4300 steps on an
average day which is slightly higher than the 4200 taken by North Indians on an average.
Kolkata, Lucknow and Ahmedabad are the laziest cities, with those living there burning much
lesser calories and working out less than four days a month on an average.

People from metro cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai, among others, are a
lot more active than the rest of the country, reveals Mintel research. It added that people in non-
metros perform low intensity workouts such as walking while the metro citizens prefer intense
workouts such as running, swimming and push-ups. The study said more than 45 per cent people
in Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad run daily, clocking over 4,700 steps each day, compared to
sub-4,300 average for the rest of the cities. " We wish to start with Hyderabad as statistics say
