Bilingual/International Period
Students will have to listen first to the songs played and then they have to raise their hand if they know the title
of the song.
When called by the teacher, that's the time they give the title of the song.
Students who will be able to guess the title of the songs will get points which they will be able to use in future
class activities.
The teacher will flash on the screen lyrics and chords of songs to show students how chords are used in songs.
The students will then be asked to research on a favorite song and look for its lyrics and chords.
The students will have to copy the lyrics and chords to a word document and send to the teacher's email.
While the students are researching on their song, those who were not able to do their hands-on on the seven
basic chords will be called individually to do the hands-on.
The teacher will then explain the chord symbol used for minor chords, what minor chords are and when they are
usually used.
The the teacher will show to the class the chord chart for minor chords and compare them to the basic (Major)
Chords.
The teacher will also discuss the formula in forming the minor chords from the Major chords to facilitate learning
of the minor chords.
The class starts with a review of the name of the strings of a classical guitar.
Then the class will enumerate the pitches of the open strings (E-A-D-G-B-E).
(G/I) Review of Hot Cross Buns on the Classical Guitar (10 minutes)
The teacher will flash on the screen the finger chart how to play the notes B, A, and G on the classical guitar.
Then the class will play the song together. Then the boys will play it and then the girls. .
Individual students who find difficulty in playing the notes will be approached by the teacher, will be asked to
play the song individually and will be guided accordingly.
(W/G/I) Introducing D' and Song Study: "Mary Had a Little Lamb" (15 minutes)
The class will be introduced to a new note, the higher D or D'. It's image will be flashed on the screen.
The class will then look at the notes for Mary Had a Little Lamb where D' is used.
The class will now use B, A, G, and D' in the song together.
WEEK 14
Bilingual/International Group
The class starts with a review of the name of the strings of a classical guitar.
Then the class will be asked to play E-A-D-G-B-e, A and D' individually.
(G/I) Review of "Mary Had A Little Lamb" on the Classical Guitar (10 minutes)
The teacher will flash on the screen the finger chart how to play the notes B, A, G, and D' on the classical
guitar.
Then the class will play the song together. Then the boys will play it and then the girls. .
Individual students who find difficulty in playing the notes will be approached by the teacher, will be asked to
play the song individually and will be guided accordingly.
(W/G/I) Introducing C' and lower D, and Song Study: "Ode to Joy" (15 minutes)
The class will be introduced to two new notes, the higher C or C' and the lower D or D. Their images will be
flashed on the screen.
Then individuals will be asked to play these notes individually.
The class will then look at the notes of "Ode to Joy" where these two notes are are used together with B-A-G,
,and D'.
WEEK 15
Bilingual/International Period
The teacher will demonstrate to the class how chords can be used in playing popular songs and its advantages.
The students will be given a short review on the forms of Major and Minor chords on the keyboard.
Then individuals will be called to play an excerpt of a song, played earlier by the teacher, using Major and minor
chords.
The teacher will then distribute the quiz on Major and minor chords which the student s will have to answer
while waiting for their turn, or after they had their practical test.
The teacher will then call them one by one to do the practical test covering both Major and minor chords.
