Why does Pepsi at KFC taste much better than from a normal

grocery?

Because those tricky clever people at Pepsi have changed the game
at the fountain.

McDonald’s & Coke came out with the trick first, but Pepsi has
their own version by optimizing the drink experience at the fountain
machine.

First, you’re getting the carbonation fresh from the start. Every
single cup has just the right amount of fizz that was originally
intended that makes the flavor enhance both the taste and even the
scent.

Next, the water is refrigerated at a point that is exactly right so you

get the full enhanced taste.

Now, I’m not certain if they have the proper filtration system that
Coke insists at McDonald’s, but I’d bet they would have something
along those lines. This would ensure that any chemicals, minerals or
whatever that might change the taste would be removed by the time
it comes into your cup.
Take a look at this video, as it shows the extent that McDonald’s and
Coke goes to make sure everyone drinks the best Coke. Pepsi, who
owned KFC, with their long partnership association as the original
founder and owner of Yum Brands, would be doing their best for the
same.
