SS 14- ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCE

A.) List out the scholastic activities you have conducted in Social Sciences in
your school. Do you think it is important for the students? Justify your
response.

 Map Quiz
By bringing geography into other issues, students come to recognize
the importance of geographic literacy. Knowing the world geography is an
important part of any educational curriculum.

 Historical Film viewing


Historical Film viewing enable learners to look and understand deeply
the events happened in the past. With this, they will going to realize the
importance of history and its essence to our present and future life.

 Debates
Debate is a scholastic activity that engage learners into in-depth and
critical thinking. It is a regulated discussion of a proposition between two
matched sides that requires effective communication skills to present a
more reasonable and persuasive arguments.

 Movie Review
After Film viewing activity, student should be given an activity which is
to make movie review base on the film they have watched. Movie review
is an effective assessment to test the learners’ understanding and their
analysis with regards to the message portrayed in the film.

 Life History Scrapbook


Life History Scrapbook is a scholastic activity that require students to
make an output that showcases the timeline and significant events in their
lives. With this, learners could not only use their knowledge but also it will
let them to use creativity on how they can make an unique output.

Overall, the scholastic activities mentioned above are all important to


the students. First, because these activities foster learning and literacy
skills.     Learning skills enable students to grasp the mental processes
required to adapt and improve in the modern 21st century. Thus, learning
skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity,
are vital and must be incorporated into the learning development of the
child. Same goes with literacy skills, it is important to the students
because it cultivate and strengthen their minds.

B. Prepare a list of five activities each in co – scholastic areas which you practice
in your Social Science and mention the techniques you use to assess them.

Life skills
 Mass Induction and Acquaintance Party 2017
 18-Day Campaign Vs. Violence Against Women and Children
 Pride Month
 World Mental Health Day Celebration
 Community Out-reach Activities

The teaching techniques that I could use to assess learners with these
activities is by providing an attendance log sheet that will serve as a proof
of their participation and presence in the event. The activities mentioned
above is important in inquiring skills in different aspects, thus learners
must participate and present in the event.

Work Education
 Youth Expression Program- An activity that let young people to express
themselves in different areas including dancing, hip-hop, sports, drama, mural
painting, or even whatever community development ideas the youth can identify.
 DUGANG ARAM 2017 – A NwSSU Summer Eskwela PROGRAM
 Project Dinasigay – A NwSSU Encouragment Camp Program- provide activities
that will let the students release or voice out their stresses and obstacls in life.
Encourage the students to build up positive perceptions in life and cope up with
stress.
 Conduct of Survey-Analysis of data and preparation of reports on main findings
in respect of socioeconomic conditions and environmental sanitation problems.
 HistoFlix: Daily Movie/Documentary Recommendations

The teaching techniques that I could use to assess learners with these activities
is by requiring students to make an accomplishment report that tackles the
success of each of the activity

Visual and Performing Arts


 Philippine Flag making during the Celebration of Philippine Independence Day
 Particiaption in Hadang Ritual Festival
 Balagtasan about Federalism
 Folkdance Competition during “Araw ng Kasaysayan” Celebration.
 Poster making during National Heroes Day

The teaching techniques that I could use to assess learners with these activities
is by providing criteria or rubrics that will evaluate the performance.

and moral lessons they grasp with regards to the activity.
