Course Work
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS=20%
ALL HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS ARE DONE VIA APLIA.

IN-CLASS QUIZZES AND GROUP WORK=15%

ALL IN-CLASS ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE IN CLASS AND CANNOT BE MADE
UP

3 EXAMS=45%
THE FIRST EXAM IS AN IN-CLASS EXAM ON CHAPTER 1. THE SECOND
EXAM IS A TAKE HOME EXAM ON CHAPTER 5 AND THE THIRD EXAM IS
FROM CHAPTER 6 AND IS COMPLETED VIA APLIA.

PARTICIPATION=20%
Participation does not equal attendance. Participation means
being in class prepared to engage with the material. This means
having read the relevant material in the book (or re-read as
necessary), watched the relevant video lectures on YouTube, and
completed and homework assignments which were due before
class.

Policy on Extra Credit

There are many opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester. These
extra credit assignments are meant to supplement our class discussions or allow
students to go further into certain topics that we did not have time to cover in
class. These assignments, and any points earned from them, will count
towards the final course grade only if all of the assignments for the class
are completed. Under no circumstances will extra credit assignments be allowed
to ‘take the place’ of the assigned work for the class. If at the end of the semester
you have not completed all of the regularly assigned assignments then all extra
credit points will be zeroed out.

Policy on Attendance
Attendance is required. You are allowed to miss five (5) hours of class time (for
whatever reason) without penalty. Any more absences than that will result in
academic penalty ranging from failing the class to a grade reduction.
