Introduction
The Model “L” Sliding Sleeve for H2S Service is
a down-hole sleeve valve used to establish com-
munication, when desired, between the tubing and
annulus. It is designed for use in wells with any
measurable percentage of H2S. All parts are alloy
steel, heat treated to 22 Rc maximum, per
N.A.C.E. 1F166. Selective and/or Top No-Go
Locking Devices are available for use with the
Sleeve. It has seal bores above and below the
ports and a Top No-Go Shoulder and Locking
Groove. The shoulder and groove are utilized in
Top No-Go landing and the groove, only in Selec-
tive locating and landing. The “L” Sliding Sleeve lo-
cates, seals and retains Flow Control Accessories
that have either Top No-Go or Selective Locks.
Refer to Flow Control Systems units for those
Accessories which may be landed only in the up-
per bore of the "L" Sliding Sleeve.
Important:
When any Accessory is landed in a Model
“L” Sliding Sleeve using a Model “E” Running
Tool, Product No. 811-17, the Running Tool
must be dressed so that only the downfacing
Locks open during the initial setting operation.
When the Accessory is run on a “C-1” Running
Tool, Product No. 811-06, with Dogs trailing,
the Running Tool must be dressed to locate on
the Sliding Sleeve bore. (Refer to Running Tool
units.)

D Maximum OD shown is for Sleeve with Top and Bottom Subs with threads as indicated in Parts List on Page 4. If other threads are ordered,
having a coupling with a larger OD than that shown, then the maximum OD would be greater.
** Otis Shifting Tools with Selective Keys can be run to any depth and shift open any Sleeve in a string, but by their design can close only the
uppermost Sleeve.
• For this size, Tool and Keys must be turned down to 2.718 diameter.
CAUTION
Minimum make-up torque for the two straight threads should meet the API
requirements for the tubing size and weight required for each Sliding Sleeve.
Under no circumstances should this torque be transmitted through the Sleeve Housing
as this may cause distortion in the area of the communication ports.
