Seeing someone again

1.Seeing someone you already know, but not very well

Simon: Fred, how are you? It is nice to see you again.

Fred: Fine, thanks Simon, and you?
Simon: Could be worse, I suppose.
Fred: That does not sound too good. What’s the problem?
Simon: We have had one or two hiccups at the Manchester production plant. I won’t bother you
with that now. I’m so glad you could come and see us here. I suggest that we begin with the
meeting at 10 o’clock, after which I will show you around the factory. If you have time, I would
like to take you out to lunch afterwards. Come and meet our new consultant, Sarah Lee. Sarah,
this is Fred Max.
Fred: I think we have met before. Didn’t you use to work for Cerise in Nice?
Sarah: Yes, I did, and I still do. How nice to see you again. How are you?
Fred: Very well, thank you, and you? How’s business?
Sarah: Going well, thank you. We have taken on several new members of staff since we last met,
and we have moved our offices to the centre of town.
Simon: I’m glad you could come to the meeting, Fred. We have a lot of things to discuss. I’m
afraid the sales director is a little late so we’ll have to start without him, but I’m sure we can
manage.
Fred: Right, let’s get down to business.

2.Seeing an old friend again

Fred: Hello, do you remember me?-Fred Max.

Bob: Fred-How nice to see you again! How are things?
Fred: Not too bad. Funnily enough, John Smith was asking after you recently.
Bob: Have you got time for a coffee? Let’s go to the canteen for five minutes.

Bob: So, how’s business?

Fred: Ticking along nicely. My wife won’t believe that I have run into you. Do call in on us next
time you are near home.
Bob: I don’t get that way very often, but it would be lovely. I am sure I have got your address
somewhere. I will give you a ring. Well, I must be off, I have to go and pick up a new trainee
from the station. Send my regards to Jane, won’t you?
Fred: It was nice seeng you again.
