ROLE OF A SUPERVISOR as a PLANNER
Supervisor has got an important role to play. He is a person who has to perform many
functions which helps in achieving productivity.

As a Planner - A supervisor has to plan the daily work schedules in the factory. At the same
time he has to divide the work to various workers according to their abilities.

Leads the workers by guiding them the way of perform their daily tasks. In fact, he plays a role
of an inspirer by telling them. Motivational thoughts.

human relations, creating a congenial and co-operative environment. This all helps in
increasing productivity.

ROLE OF A SUPERVISOR as ORGANIZER

DELEGATE
Ensure that the subordinate is given the relevant responsibility and authority to complete
the task.

Let the subordinate complete the task in the manner they choose, as long as the results
are what you specified.

Be willing to accept ideas from the subordinate on task fulfillment.

Keep a delegation attitude.

Ask yourself frequently: "Who else could do this?"

Question every task, particularly those you have done for years.

Define the desired outcome.

Ask: "What is the result I want accomplished?"

Learn to assign responsibility for achieving results rather than unloading tasks.

WHY DO LEADERS NEED TO DELEGATE?

When leaders delegate certain tasks to others, they become free to focus on

higher-value activities and use their time more productively.

Delegation not only gives leaders time for strategic thinking, but it also

allows them to focus on other tasks that only they can perform, such as
leading and coaching their teams.
How to Delegate Tasks Effectively
Choose the right person for the job. Part of being a good leader is understanding your employees'
strengths, weaknesses, and preferences.

Explain why you are delegating

Provide the right instructions

Provide resources and training

Delegate responsibility and authority

Check the work and provide feedback

Say thank you.

Authority can be delegated but responsibility can never

be delegated. Responsibility of subordinates is “performance” and that of managers is
“responsibility for the action of their subordinates”.

One cannot be held responsible for a task if he has only limited authority

Productivity in almost any job requires some level of organizational skill.
