 Executive Summary
Pet Pause pet care center is an exclusive service for your beloved pets. Often we are away from
home and our pet has to spend a whole day without our care and affection. Here we came up
with a new initiative of a care centre to foster pets when you will be at work or wherever you
have to go. If you're a pet lover then surely you can still recall your first pet and all the joy
brought into life. With the wholehearted love for animals, you started researching and found out
many of our pets died only for deprivation of proper care. So we started planning to open a
daycare centre for pets where we will be passionate about your pets' health. After months we got
a huge response from the market and thought of opening a centre near Banani. Our center will be
focusing on the pet owners of Gulshan, Banani, Basundhara and nearby. We believe in building
bonds with pets and their owner through quality care. After all everything a pet lover need is to
take care of his pet. We are planning to provide foods, comfort, medicine and 24 hour
observation service for your pet. Boarding and grooming services for your pet will be included.
We will also add clinic service for them afterwards. We will generate revenue from usage
fees which is 700taka per day and when we will have high enough revenue, we will gladly add
some more options to make your pets comfortable until you return. 
With your trust and support, we are going to start up a service for your pet where they will have
proper nutrition and health care. Our motive is to encourage people to grow love and care for
animals. Pet Pause pet care centre will be trustworthy place where they can keep their pets
happily and love to pay the service. It will be a one step forward initiative to save all the pets and
animals of our country.
 Company Background

Business operation : Pet pause is offering a secured place for pets while their owners are
busy. This type of business is new in Bangladesh so we don’t have much completion in the
market. People who are afraid to leave their pets at home while they go office or abroad, can
easily trust us. We provide security and comfort to our customers through our service. We sign
the agreement with our clients after examining their pet if they are healthy and vaccinated.
We make sure in our center these pets feel like home.

Mission: We are providing this kind of service because we think that, pet lovers of our country faces

various kinds of problems alone with their pets, so we want to help them and want to solve them.

We will provide premium quality service to our customers. We will ensure every kind of safety

issues for pets, support our customers when they are facing problem to keep and maintain their

pets when they are not with their pets

Vision: Our vision is to distribute our business at a broader perspective. We will do a lot of social

welfare for animals, enhancing and bringing new aspects in pet caring issues. We will cross our

breakeven point within one year. Our pet loving customers will get the best service experience

from us, we will ensure that.

Identification of Operating Industry: Our “PETS PAUSE” is a service industry. Our Company
provides services to the pet owners. Our services will include, take care of pets, when the
owner of the pet is not with the pet we will maintain and keep their pets with us and will
ensure all kinds of safety issues.

SWOT ANALYSIS :

Strength : The concept of pet caring service is recently growing up – so the proper knowledge, proper
service based on people demand is not that much improved yet. In this market most of the pet

caring service center are promises that they are going to provide loving and caring services for

pets and ensure the safe place and hygienic foods. But the question is all the pets need the same

service? The answer is NO. All pets are different categories. so our specialties that we are going

to provide services based pet needs and we are also providing services on customer demands like

– pet training, walking, setting, day caring service etc. We are also going to help pet owners to

set appointment with pet doctors. Sometimes new owners face problems to communicate with

their pet and some people don’t understand what types of pets are appropriate for them.

Weakness: We are new in market and also our business concept is little bit different than others and

people are also sensitive about their pets. To find people who are expertise in this field - which will be

not easy so we need to provide some training to them, which will be costly. In Bangladesh we have to

face some corruption because there are some government legal issues. The society is not

very much familiar with pet care center and the main problem is limitation of capital.

Opportunities: The pet caring market is just now growing and competitors are very low and we are

coming with new ideas and features – so it’s a big opportunity to grab market easily.

Threats: Although there are very few competitors in the market chances of new competitors is a big

threat for us. Because new entrance always come with new ideas. Economic decline and political

unstable can affects our business.

 SERVICE DESCRIPTION
PET PAUSE will make sure that the pets we take for fostering get a healthy and secure
treatment. Our pet care center will give 100 percent to serve the pets and owners. The pet
will be taken care of in a manner that owners will be pleased and when they take back the
pets they feel safe about giving us to foster their pets again.

PET PAUSE offers upscale dog owners a place where they can leave their pets while at
work, and away for weekend trips or on vacation. It also offers feeding and exercising, as
well as washing, grooming and low-level veterinary services. Services are as follows:

Overnight Care : Leave your pet for as long as necessary for 24 hour care and attention.

Day Care: Provide space for a fun, safe atmosphere for pets to spend the day exercising and
enjoying the company of other pets.

In-home Animal Care: Staff will go to homes to feed, walk, play, and check on pets as
often as requested.

Wash Your Own Pet: Provide tubs, brushes, environmentally safe shampoo, dryers and
aprons for clients who bring their pets in to wash.

Pet Grooming: Provide on-site professional pet grooming services.

Animal Behavior Courses: We will provide certified animal training courses for the
beginner, intermediate, and advanced very soon.

Gift Shop: Provide specialty pet-related gifts and products in front of our PET PAUSE.
Special Events: Coordinate pet birthday parties or any other special occasions on-site or at a
location of choice.

Special Requests: Provide service for pets with special needs including administering
medication, assisting with recovery from surgery, handicaps, etc.

Pet taxi: If owners can't able to receive their pets, we will send them to house on time.
Security: Owners will have 24 hours live feed of the housing area of the pets. Along with
that each owner and pet will have their own designated card to avoid theft or mix-ups.
 INDUSTRY ANALYSIS
PESTEL ANALYSIS

i. Political Analysis:
Bangladesh comparatively is a new country as it only gained independence in 1971.
Since then the country has went on to develop in all sectors, but has faced continuous
ups and downs in political situations. Awami League has been the ruling government
this term with the next elections coming up in 2019. As the ruling party they have
made advancement in controlling the political instability which has resulted in less
strikes, political conflicts etc. Considering Bangladesh was the most corrupt country
until 2005, corruption has spread across all sectors of the government. Therefore it is
difficult for new start ups to acquire all the necessary paperwork as the process in
made lengthy by officials.

In context to our business, Pet Pause, a pet care center, political instability will affect
our work as strikes will lower sales due to less people coming in with their pets,
inflation will increase cost of running the office which might deter people from using
our service.

Business regulation in Bangladesh is not very strict at this moment, however

government offices are bureaucratic and officials are prone to corruption. Customer
protection legislation is not very strong in Bangladesh, because customers are not
aware of them and do not want to get involved in legal disputes which can be
expensive and prolonged.

Since this is a new concept being introduced we hope political conflicts will not affect
our daily business and as our business is not politically related we hope that there
will be no political agenda against us. We will be a contributing part of the economy
and hoping to start a trend in our new line of business.
ii. Environment Analysis:
This year has been monumental for the Bangladesh economy as the country has
achieved a GDP growth of 7% for the second year in a row. A first of its kind, no
country has ever achieved this feat. In 2015-2016 fiscal year the GDP growth was
7.11%. The country has gone on to improve on that, in 2016-2017 fiscal year the
GDP growth was 7.24%, an all time high in the history of the country. According to
the Planning Minister of our country this number is expected to rise to 7.40% in the
upcoming 2017-2018 fiscal year.

Taking all these into account we can see that more people are becoming capable of
spending more money. Therefore we can expect more people to use our service in the
coming years as money will not be a barrier to making life easier.

iii. Social Analysis:

Social factors include cultural aspects, health consciousness, population growth rate,
age distribution, career attitudes and high trends. If we talk about cultural aspects and
high trend then pet comes in first few rows. For example, this generation people are
facing lots of stress as a result they have retreated towards animals than other people
to relieve them of their stress. There are many work places which has inhouse care
puppies or cats for their workers to play as a part of stress relief. Nowadays people
are also looking for jobs that offer something unique rather than boring desks and
paperwork. Our business offers something completely different as the work is directly
related to animals. Recent awareness about animal protection is also good for our
business as people are becoming less ignorant about animals.

If we consider our business full time workers will be encouraged as they will get a
completely unique work environment and as this is animal related many animal
loving people or organizations can volunteer or do social work at the center.
iv. Technological Analysis:
Recent advancement in technology has been massively beneficial for all businesses.
The internet now plays a major role in promoting new products. By utilizing this we
can reach our customers easily as online promotions can reach thousands of
customers instantly. Online groups will be a major source as pet loving societies are
becoming bigger with time passing by.

v. Environmental Analysis:
Bangladesh is a tropical country located near the equator with an annual average
temperature of 26 degree Celsius . Although average temperature does not do justice
as temperature can rise up to 39 celsius. Adding to the hot weather, Bangladesh
experiences rainy season for almost 4 months with annual rainfall averaging from
about 119 cm (47 in) up to 145 cm (57 in). Although this has no direct impact on our
business but due to increased rainfall and faulty sewage system in the city, many
customers might be limited to use our service as many roads are blocked during
floods. But by selecting a strategically safe location we can hope to get by this
barrier.

vi. Legal Analysis:

There are some animal acts and legislation in this country that might affect the
business. As example-
1) The Partnership Act, 1932, since our business is a partnership agreement.
2) THE CRUELITY to Animal Act 1920- which is associated with fair treatment of
animals and penalties imposed when laws are broken.
3) The Contract Act, 1872- explaining the laws of contract signing and agreeing to
terms and conditions, penalty for fraudulent activities.
Since we will deal with customers who will be required to sign contract paper, hence
the paper will be used to verify the custody of the pet. Therefore we need to abide by
the law and follow safety regulations to maintain safety standards for both pet and
workers.
MARKET ANALYSIS:

i)Threat of new competition : The threat of new entry in this market is high because
this concept is new and there are lots of opportunities to make this profitable.

ii) Supplier power: The supplier power is comparatively low for example
veterinarians, pet food provider, animal care experts. If the number of supplier
increase than it will be very easy to get more products and we would have more
options to pick therefore opt for making more profit.

iii) Buyer’s power: In pet care market there are only few choices for buyers and the
features of service that we are providing is unique so bargaining opportunity is
relatively low, and people do not want to compromise about their beloved pet. We
will also build a good relationship between our clients and our brand as we hope to
forge a long term bond with both the customer and their pet.

iv)Competitive Rivalry: As our organization is new and there are no direct

competitors yet, however there are clinics with minimal fostering service and other
animal welfare centers who are our indirect competitors in terms of their services.
Our competitor rivalry is low for now. Therefore, the entry of this market will be a
new opportunity for us. Rivalry is low so that we have power over others.

v) Threat of substitutes: The threat of substitute is low. Animal foster care facility is
relatively new market in the context of Bangladesh and there are many unfulfilled
demands of this service. Taking care of the animals for a contracted time period, there
is hardly any other firm giving the same service. So as long as the substitute is
concerned, animal clinics can be one example.
 Marketing Plan
It reffers to all the things a marketing manager does starting from product, price,place and
promotion or what people know as the 4P’s of marketing.

a. Product:
Product is defined
as anything of value
which is offered in
the market for an
exchange. In Pet Pause the product or as we call it today the service will be taking
compete care of your pets for as long as you want us to. WE believe in excellence and
will provide the best service possible. We know the modern approach of the market
“Caveat Vendditor” and we follow it strictly as they say:-
Market – Customer = Zero
b. Price:
Price is amount of money paid for a product/service by a buyer. Pet pause has its main
pricing objective as product quality leadership and maximising profits as fast as possible
as we are only once in the market. After a lot of thought we decided to go ahead with the
market penetration pricing strategy. We decided that our per day price will be 700Tk per
day but if you keep it for more than 3 days it will reduce depending on the time. The
prices do differ for the dogs and cats but it is reasonable and no extra cost if your pet
needs any extra care which is reasonable.
c. Place:
 In this stage we are concerned with making the goods available to the good/services
available to he who needs and when he needs. We practice B2C business only. When you
want our service you can give us your pet at our hostel and do all the procedures here or
you could login into our site which will only operate after two months of the working.
We do not charge any extra fee for the transportation. However, we prefer you come to
our hostel and get back your pet so you can make sure we gave him all he needs and there
is no complaint latter.
d. Promotion:
It consists of the promotion mix which is advertisement, personal selling, sales promotion
and public relations but pet pause uses only three of the four promotional mix.

1. Advertisement
It is a form of promotion where you usually have to pay a certain party to promote
your product.
i. Facebook Page- having a page on social media is very easy and is a very good
way of telling people about our existence.
ii. YouTube- Making videos and posting them on you tube can also be a good
example we plan to start our own channel to get recognition.
iii. Snapchat- Followers can always see snaps of cute animals that customers have
left in our care, in this we can reach more animal loving people.
iv. Posters/Flyers- Posters will be posted in different areas close to our office to
let people know as well distribute flyers near different workplaces.
2. Sales Promotion
It is a type of promotion where you indulge in ways of expanding sales.
i. Discount- we offer our product/service at lesser cost especially during the
holiday season.
ii. Membership card- a special card is given to anyone who enrols as a loyal
customer you not only get a lot of discounts but can make easy appointments
at a few vets with which we have partnered.
 iii. Contests- we conduct contests every once in a while to check if the customer
and its pet has got a good relation and the pair with best relation is given a
best.
iv. Lucky draw- we conduct lucky draws every month and the winners win a
chance of keeping their pet at our place for a period of two months for zero
cost.
3. Public relation
It is a way to make your side of the story known and wants you to become popular we
use a number of those techniques.
i. Broachers- We have some really nice broachers which we hand out to people
all the time to keep them informed and to get the good review.
ii. Sponsorship- we sponsor a number of pages on face book which is to help
animals around the globe.
iii. Seminars- it is a great way to tell people about us and give them the
information like why our work is quite important.
iv. Campaigns- starting campaigns to help bring awareness about the wrong
things happening to them
 Financing the business
After a lot of research we found out that we will require a minimum capital of Tk.
1,500,000 . Our group of five will be bring only Tk. 750,000 from our pockets as everyone
is contributing Tk. 150,000 . We hope to attain a sum of Tk. 500,000 from our investors. The
investors investing will be known as the angel investors and will be given ownership
equity and will have to hare both profits and losses on the basis of their ratio on the total capital
or as mentioned in the partnership deed. None of the partners will receive any kind of salary they
will only have share in profit which will be mentioned in the deed. The rest of the amount Tk.
250,000 will come from loan that we will receive from our relatives and should pay them back
with interests with in a period of five years. Taking all factors into account , it will take
about 6-7 months to reach the break-even point, which is really good . Moreover , we plan
to cover up our capital within 3-4 years which is very much possible even , if new
competitors arises but if they don’t it may take 2 and half years at the most .

Pet Pause Ratio Analysis

All amounts given are based on studies at a given point of time and there may be slight variations
in the ratios but it will be close to negligible the variations will occur as business environment is
never stable and it cannot be controlled.

Solvency Ratio for short period

Current Ratio = current asset/current liability

= 783400/424830

=1.84:1

Solvency Ratio for long period

Total asset to debt ratio = Total asset/total liability

= 1345500/250000

= 5.38:1

From the above ratios we can conclude that the business is quite solvent both in the long and
short run.

Profitability Ratio
Gross Profit Ratio = Gross profit/net revenue x 100

= 713400/3567000 x 100

= 20%

Net profit ratio = net profit/ net revenue x100

= 226440/3567000 x100

= 6.34%

From the above given ratio it can be concluded that the business is very much profitable in the
Bangladeshi market.
 CONCLUSION
Every responsible pet owner wants to receive the best care for their pets but at an affordable cost.
It is the commitment of PET PAUSE to provide premium quality care and service, yet affordable
to people who are looking for a temporary home for their pets. We will guarantee safety, comfort
and a fun time for all pets. In doing this we hope to start a new trend in this business in this
country as it is a first of its kind. Along with that we hope to create demand in other job sectors
such as veterinarians, professional animal trainers etc. Therefore we hope to run a successful
business in the foreseeing future.
