FOCUS AREA
The main impetus of our project is Clean India
Mission in which its objectives includes
eradication of manual scavenging and bringing a
behavioral change regarding sanitation
practices.

The existing cleaning process of the tracks and

the railway platforms is manual, which is
tedious and far from the desired level of
sanitation or cleanliness.

Our mission is to rectify the prevailing

condition  to a considerable extent by the use of
our railway track cleaning robot.
PROBLEM DEFINITION
India railways  are considered to be the
largest  railways network in the world. Every day
numerous people  travel on trains and there is a
disposal of a lot of waste  in many forms. Hence it
becomes a  tedious and time-consuming  task
in  cleaning  the tracks. The current method employed
for waste disposal has been  manual  but it is
considered to be a very tedious task.

Every year the Indian Government  spends nearly

500 crores just for the cleaning of the railway
tracks.
CASE STUDY
The Indian Railways, which has
one of the world’s  largest
railway  networks, is said to be
the biggest employer of
manual scavengers.
The Indian Railways do not
employ any technology to keep
its 80,000 toilets and 115,000
kilometers of tracks clean,
instead, employ manual
scavengers.
VALIDATION OF THE PROBLEM

Scavenger's opinion

Survey Survey
conducted at taken
Ambattur, from 40
people
Avadi and
Perambur

From the survey result

more than half of the
people wanted changes to
be implemented
SOLUTION TO ADDRESS
THE PROBLEM
STUDY
The fact that humans have to clean
human waste and other garbage
thrown on rail tracks is a situation
that needs immediate remedy

SURVEY
We took survey among 40 manual
scavengers about their working
experience.

PRINCIPLE
We developed a machine that works
on the basic Physics, which helps in
minimizing human efforts since it is
wireless.

CLEAN AND HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT

If this project is implemented then
the manual can be avoided and as
well as we can attain a healthy
environment.

FUTURE WORK
Considering the current
advancements in machine learning,
train alarming unit can be designed
to detect an approaching train by
the bot itself. Bot could be equipped
with GPS module to ensure safety
from possible train-bot collisions
by    signalling and retracting
mechanism.

CONCLUSION
Railway Track Cleaning Robot is  a
skillful alernative for manual
scavenging and it can be
implemented under the government
scheme of "Clean India Mission".
