METHODOLOGY

Research Design

The researcher used the descriptive type to validate the

reading comprehension of the Grade 2 students of Graciano Lopez

Jaena. Lorraine R. Gay (1992: 217), author of Educational Research,

stated that descriptive research involves collecting data in order to

test hypotheses or to answer questions concerning the current

status of the subject of the study. The researcher will use the

Systematic Sampling Technique to select the sample. Systematic


Sampling Technique is a method that involves election of sample

from ordered sampling frame. The researcher will select for every

even numbers of the students from the list. In data gathering, the

researcher used the assessment based on the activity given to the

students. The researcher will use two instrument: the pre-test and

the post-test. It consists of Three (3) directions that students should

follow. The outcome will be tabulated and presented in a table with

percentage to ascertain strategies used by the researcher and the

problems in reading and comprehension. With this, teachers can

measure comprehension skill of Grade 2 students of Graciano Lopez

Jaena S.Y. 2020-2021 and this can help teachers form appropriate

reading strategies and approach for the students.
