CONTEXT AND RATIONALE

FONT SIZE IS 12 AND FONT STYLE IS TIMES NEW ROMAN JUSTIFIED.

Agriculture is very essential for development of every country. Aside from food

production, it also provides market for agricultural products. It is also important for

reduction of unemployment rate (Jones and Ejeta, 2016). Despite the said importance of

Agriculture, students were bored studying it. Many students of Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija

believe that this subject is just all about planting and weeding which most of their

parents and the people of the community are practicing. They select Agriculture as a

track because it is less expensive or because they have no other choice. KAPAG

Respondents

The participants of the study were 109 Grade 9 T.L.E Agri-Crop Production

students of F. Buencamino Sr. Integrated School. The interview was done with 15

respondents which was 13.76% of the population and randomly selected.

Sampling Method

The researcher used the total population of grade 9 of F.Buencamino Sr.

Integrated School. The respondents of the interview were randomly selected.

Sources of Data

The data of respondents’ multiple intelligence came from the adapted-modified

multiple intelligence test. The questionnaire was the source of demographic profile and

the level of motivation of the to the respondents who used the intervention. The interview

will serve as supplementary evidence of the impact of the intervention to them. The

academic performance of respondents was determined through their fourth quarter

grades.

Intervention

The proposed intervention in this study will be the use of learning logs in

mathematics class to determine the enhanced students’ mastery of mathematical

concepts.

Instruments

Two instruments will be used in the study, the pretest and the post test will be

constructed and validated by the researcher.

The researcher will prepare the initial drafts of the tests for validation. These will

be presented to the three Math teachers of the same school. After revising and

incorporating the suggestions, these two parallel tests will try to a group of Grade Nine

students who will not respondents of the study, but also students of Gabaldon Vocational

Agriculture High School (GVAHS).

Data Collection Procedure

There is a need to establish two parallel groups in every experimental research.

This is to ensure that any advantage in the performance of the experimental group is

caused by the manipulated variables.

In order to form these two groups, the researcher will compare scores in the

baseline assessment given at the beginning of the school year and their first quarter rating

in Mathematics 8. To ensure that the respondents are of equal level (they are comparable)

Diagnostic Test in Math 9 were compared using frequency, percentage and mean.

The experiment will be conducted from June 2017 to August 2017, first grading period of

S.Y. 2017-2018.

The pre test will be given a week before the experiment. The pretest will be

administered to both groups- the experimental and the control, at the start of the

experiment.

In the actual experiment, the control group and experimental groups will be subjected to

the same teaching approach but the experimental group used learning logs. Each student

in the experimental group has a designated spiral bound notebook specifically used for

writing learning logs responses. Students will be prompted to answer and explained the

mathematical concept used throughout the research period. Math learning logs will be

returned to the students with responses from the teacher at the beginning of each

problem-solving period. Students’ learning log responses will be used to monitor mastery

of students in explaining mathematical concepts.

The post test will be given after all suggested lessons were taught.

The experimental period will end on August 2017. The post test will be given

right after the study period.

Ethical Considerations

In planning and conducting research, as well as in reporting research findings, the

research conformed to a set of generally accepted norms and values. The following

ethical principles will be considered in the execution of the study:

F.Buencamino Sr. Integrated School

SDO Gabaldon Annex
M.I.-D.E.R.: ITS IMPACT IN THE LEARNING MOTIVATION OF T.L.E.9 STUDENTS 8

This study will be conducted at Gabaldon Vocational Agriculture High School,

permission for conducting the study will be obtained from the principal of the school. A

letter of consent will be sent to the parents of students. The researcher will have the

ethical responsibility of ensuring that the whole research project unfolded in an ethically

correct manner. The researcher, therefore, will ensure that the analysis of data and the

results of the study will be reported accurately.

tools to be utilized to determine the comparability of the experimental and control groups,

based on their Diagnostic Test in Mathematics 9 S.Y 2017 and in treating the pre-test and

a. Frequency Distribution. It is a systematic way to list a series of observation of

variables. This was done by categorizing and tabulating the frequency of occurrence.

b. Percentage. This was utilized by the researcher to get the proportion of a part of the

whole. The researcher used the formula:

c. t-test. The Independent Samples t Test compares the means of two independent groups

in order to determine whether there is statistical evidence that the associated population

means are significantly different.

When the two independent samples are assumed to be drawn from populations with

unequal variances , the test statistic t is computed as:

Plan for Dissemination and Advocacy

The multiple intelligence test was given to the parents of the respondents on the

distribution of modules and learning activity sheet on the third grading. After analyzing

the multiple intelligences of the respondents, the researcher prepared digital instructional

materials that are aligned to the learning styles of respondents. The digital materials were

disseminated through the use of the most accessible online platform to one hundred

percent (100%) of students which is facebook. On the retrieval of the modules and

learning activity sheets on the 9th week of the fourth quarter, the questionnaires were

distributed to the parents of the respondents and retrieved after one week.
