1. When I look in the mirror each morning, I see an energetic and passionate girl. She always smiles no
matter how hard her life is. She may not be the smartest girl or a stunning one. However, she’s still
special because she knows how to share her knowledge and behaves politely to other people. Her hope
for a better future, the enthusiasm of youth and a little mischief makes her eyes sparkle.

2. Who are my people? What do we see in the mirror?

In my opinion, what distinguish a person from the others is identity. I believe that identity is the total of
social relationships. It is who and what we communicate with that identify us. Different relationships,
which are related to various people from many classes, ages, educations, environments, religions, races,
etc in our community and out of that block, will tell other people who we are.

Personally, what people see in the mirror is their most happy side and the ego that makes them feel
proud most. It is our most beautiful face. The face shows happiness when we achieve something. It is
the pride that we have matured day by day. It is characteristics that give us good relationships. I assume
that the person in the mirror is the person who shows how hard we have tried to integrate, to strive for
our success (in education, in relationships with our family, friends, colleagues, etc)

Keeping in mind that diversity includes (but is not limited to) race, religion, ethnicity, gender,

sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, physical and mental ability, language, education,

occupation, nation of origin, etc., please answer the following questions and be prepared to

share all or parts of your answers with someone you don’t know if you are comfortable.

3. If I had to describe myself in four words I would say that I am a:

passionate optimistic

open-minded sensible

4. One experience that I have had that helped me to form this description of myself was about the
summer before I go to the university. At that time, my mother caught a severe disease. My parents had
to fly to HCM CITY for 2 weeks to get a better treatment. Therefore, I became the most important
member in my family and had to do the jobs of my mom and dad! I cooked 3 meals a day, went to the
supermarket to choose which food having much nutrition, which is bad for child health, did the washing,
picked up my sister to the summer class 3 times a week. As a father, I also cared for the security of my
home, helped my grandmother take a shower, assured my sister that our mom would come home soon!
However, I didn’t cry nor blame anyone for my misfortune. After this event, I realize that I’m quite
optimistic. Because I believed that my mother would come home with a healthy body. I imagined that
they just had a vacation without us. Moreover, I recognized that I could learn housework experiences
from other housewives quickly. Am I sensible?

5. One thing about being a

passionate optimistic

open-minded sensible

that makes me feel good is: the strong motivation for a better life. Passion helps me to be committed to
every task I am doing. Even if it's a small one, I still want to try my best. The feeling of accomplishing
something with all my ability makes me feel satisfied. Moreover, concentration lets me learn everything
more quickly. I can realize others’ attitude faster to treat appropriately. When I am optimistic and
thinking openly, I see life in many different aspects. Therefore, I can choose the best way to deal with
my problems without feeling that this life is full of darkness or unfair to me. They give me the belief in
the happy things in the future. If I work hard, I will gain achievement.
