THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY IN THE LIFE OF AN INDIVIDUAL AND THE SOCIETY

 the basic social unit

 provides members with a social identity
 helping family members who can’t take care for themselves (minors, elderly,
disabled)
 financial and emotional security
 responsibility for the education and socialization of children
 developing and maintaining values and norms

Family is the basic social unit in a society. It means that between the family members there
is a blood relationship or a kind of legal relationship (marriage, adoption)

Family plays an important role in every person’s life, mostly in those people’s lives who are
unable to take care of themselves or need help in their everyday life. For example the
minors, who have to learn how to take care of themselves and at the beginning of the
process they need guidance. There are also the elderly people who know exactly what they
should do, but they can’t because they have health problems, they are slower and
sometimes their memories are not perfect. I also have to mention people who live with
disabilities. They need a person with them who can help if they need it. In serious cases this
person could be a specialist, a nurse for example, who will be there all the time for payment.

Besides financial security, family also gives you emotional security. Because your family will
always be there for you and if you have a problem in your life they will be there to give you a
helping hand. It doesn’t matter if it’s a financial or an emotional issue.

As I have mentioned family has an important role in every person’s life, especially in a child's
life because they have to learn the basic rules to successfully integrate into society. And they
are our future, so they have to learn the values and the norms which will be important in
their future life and probably it will change with the times as they grow up.
