Students will work as independent producers who have been


commissioned to produce factual programme items according to
specific genres and purposes.

This assignment is linked to work you are doing in other Units,


including Working to a Brief in the Media Industries.
Vocational Scenario or
Context All students must produce a factual programme item based on
the client briefs agreed earlier with their tutors, e.g. Royal
Television Society Awards, Churches Trust, etc.

Students may also produce a factual production item based on a


personal client brief for the purposes of this assignment in
agreement with tutor.

Generate ideas for the item. Choose and fully research one idea

and develop a proposal for production.
Checklist of evidence Mind-maps or other evidence of ideas generation, evidence of
required research and references to sources of information, your written-
up proposal for production.

findings of your research and justifying your choice of subject.

Checklist of evidence Evidence of research, discussions with clients, emails, print-out of


required pitch to tutors with any recordings or photos of event. Printout of
all standard preproduction paperwork including any scripts,
shooting schedules, budgets, logs, health and safety statements,
etc.
