Summary of Learnings from Webinar

This webinar is delivered by Mrs. Natalie Alcantara who is someone who can be
considered as a pioneer in the business industry handling multiple businesses in
different industry. She was once a full time employee and strived to be a successful
business woman because of her passion. According to her, one must strive to succeed
not just to settle being an employee because whatever you do as an employee, even if
you are the most talented one, you will not receive the fruits and attention of what
you’ve done, it will always go to the person whom you are working for. That’s one of the
reasons why she started to do business.

Her first venture was the Blooming Shades Marketing Services Co. This is a
business where she handles marketing and event services. Her company handles from
the basics of printing the materials through advertising the event then later on manages
the event itself. Her business is a versatile and flexible one because the management
can handle whatever event it is and what is her customer’s wants. But it eventually
stopped because of the pandemic. As for her, this pandemic may hinder her first
venture but she used this threat to gain an opportunity, and that is establishing her
second business, Your Chef Momma PH. This business is focused on dealing with
customers that wants to eat home cooked meals but can’t afford to make them. It also
offers baked cookies that will surely capture the heart of the eater. Not just because this
pandemic is considered an opportunity but because it’s her passion to cook and at the
same time passion to do business that’s driving her to strive through her successes.
That is why she ventured again to her third business, Journey Travel Depot Co., it is a
travel and booking business where the business will handle the booking of flights of her
clients and also book the activities that they will do. It also encompasses the place
where they will stay and the location where they will adventure and experience
delicacies. She considered doing this business because she saw the opportunity that
after this pandemic, many people is eager to travel and experience life again. You can
say that Mrs. Alcantara is born opportunity guru, because she will always see the
opportunity lying somewhere else where people cannot even fathom to think and
believe. That’s why one of her life motto is “I chose to live my life unafraid even during

the times I was afraid. I discovered that opportunities don’t find you; you find your
opportunities.” By none other than Mr John Gokongwei Jr. himself.

Trough out the webinar, it is not just life experiences is being told, Mrs. Alcantara
also delivers lessons that is aligned with the current topics that Strategic Management is
tackling about. First lesson that she taught during her webinar is finding your goal and
purpose and eventually turn them into your vision and mission in life. Vision and Mission
is one of the most important things when settling a business because a clear vision will
guide your way while a strong mission will help you jump the hurdles. Goals also is
considered important because these goals are your stepping stones to do your mission
and succeed in your vision. Another lesson is all about the competitive advantage
where you will gain the upper hand in the industry because of the unique and
unparalleled characteristics the company has. She delivered her company’s competitive
advantage namely; Competitive Pricing, Adaptability and Quality. These three
characteristics are one of the reasons why she stayed being successful and
distinguished from other business in the same industry. She also tackled SWOT
Analysis where you must be able to detect your own strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities and threats. This SWOT analysis will help you to develop your
characteristics at top most level and get rid or solve your current hindrances and
challenges. Following the trend of SWOT Analysis, she also tackled matters that is
closely related to one of the best topics in Strategic Management which is the TOWS
Analysis. This involves finding your weakness and threats and turn them into your
strength and opportunity. One example of it was when she encountered pandemic,
instead of seeing it as a threat, she grabs it and turn it into an opportunity to establish
another business. Next lesson she taught is about your product and market. As an
entrepreneur, you must be the number one person who knows what your product is and
what can your product deliver to its customers. Once you know the product’s
capabilities, then you will eventually know who truly is your customer and how can you
deal with these customers. Lastly, she taught us about the importance of yourself. As
the entrepreneur and aspiring business owner, you must also evaluate yourself. Know
what are your true capabilities and breakthrough your limits. You must consider your

business as part of yourself, and always remember that whatever you see in the person
is what you see in the business he/she is doing.
