Workshop 1 – Characteristics of Entrepreneurs I posses

Having to experience both as an employee and entrepreneur, I believe that the following

attributes are the ones I do possess, making me successful, in my own assessment of

both worlds, corporate and business owner.

Communicator

As an existing leader in the BPO space, I managed to enhance my communication

skills that come handy in dealing with any situation that come my way. I strongly believe

that my ability to partner and communicate expectations to people who are reporting to

me and the leaders I deal with, made me formulate sturdy business relationships in the

corporate world. Any projects, tasks, deliverables are well-versed to my partners,

ensuring that everyone gets to have visibility on how I am progressing on my

deliverables, the challenges I am facing and how I am formulating the solutions required

in closing the identified gaps. This style is also applicable to my business. With my

communication style and bonds I have developed, I get to be transparent and open

when my customers would like to know about the information related to products and

services I am selling online.

Leadership

The ability to maneuver groups or individuals to achieve the end goal of my

projects and deliverables helped me through leadership development. As someone who

have been leading individuals for almost a decade now, understanding my subordinates

thought process, paralleled with my experiences honed me to better connect,

understand, drive outputs to the team I am handling which is also significant in the

business spectrum, as an entrepreneur.

Problem Solving

As an employee and business owner, a realization that truly hit me is that, any

problem may occur at any time, and to move forward and resolve adversities, I must be

a problem-solver in order for things to progress. This characteristic I embodied

continuously let me overcome obstacles I am facing on a daily basis in both corporate

and my own business.

While I get to enjoy both worlds as we speak, I am more gearing towards being an

employee, mostly due to the non-monetary benefits that I don’t have to really worry

about, If I am a business owner. (Health and Life insurance primarily)

Workshop 2 – Entrepreneur Mindset

A successful entrepreneur is a life-long-learner. Thus, in my opinion, the

following attributes must be embodied by an individual to be one.

1. Creativity & Innovation

 Any entrepreneur should have this mindset as this is going to be useful in

developing solutions/products/services on the current and future

consumer needs. Having the ability to create services/products that would

be beneficial to consumers is the primary goal of any entrepreneur,

challenging the existing markets if applicable.

2. Future Orientation

 Using trends and data analysis, an entrepreneur would be more successful

if they are future oriented. This would make their business 2 to 3 steps

away from the competition, increasing business’ success rate.

3. Flexibility & Adaptability

 With the changes on how business owners and markets shift, an

entrepreneur should be able to keep up with these events, thus, assessing

markets and consumer feedback should be able aid in planning to be able

to adapt to these changes.

4. Communication & Collaboration

 No entrepreneur is an island, so is business! To ensure business success,

one must be able to communicate and collaborate to business partners and

consumers of any changes/progress on products and services an

entrepreneur offers.
Workshop 3– Social Entrepreneur

From my understanding, Social entrepreneur ship is an approach in business in

which the entrepreneur fosters business actions that could help address both social and

environmental challenges the world faces today using innovative strategies and

sustainable business models that create positive impact in the society.

To be a successful one, below are the following ideas I have in mind to develop

and nurture a business that has positive sociable outcome:

1. Identification of what my business’ social mission is. As an entrepreneur, I must

be able to consider social and environmental factors that my business could

address once this is available in the market.

2. Once my mission is formed up, how do I measure my success is the next action I

am to take. This means that social and environmental impact analysis must be

done through setting of performance indicators.

3. Resource Identification – to ensure that my business would impact our social and

environment positively, accredited and trusted partners are to be identified. And

in this identification process, our mission must aligned.

With these critical elements I mentioned, I should be able to formulate a business that

would allow the society and the environment to benefit positively.
