RECREATION comes from Latin word “recreare” which means to refresh or to restore.
According to Max Kaplan, recreation has been a period of light and restful activity, voluntary chosen, which
restore one for heavy, obligatory activity to work (Werskapf, 1978).
Recreational dance includes those that have simple dance patterns based on combination of walking step, the
two steps, the polka step and the waltz step.
Participants meet new friends and develop among them socialization skills,
VALUES OF RECRETION
1. Physical health. Most of worthwhile activities are physical in nature.
2. Psychological Health. Undesirable personal and social traits can change through engaging recreation.
3. Social aspects. It denotes experiences that meet fundamental needs. Various activities can give
happiness, fulfillment and satisfaction.
4. Emotional aspects. It is the informal nature of recreational activities as such that they provide
relaxation ad relief from the strain and tension of schoolwork, and opportunity for self – expression and
emotional mastery.
