1. How can we consider if a body movement can be classified as dance?


- Body movement can be classified as dance because dancing combines the benefits
of aerobic plus weight-bearing exercise. When you dance, you get many physical and mental
health benefits, including: Better heart health ang stronger muscles. There are two general
categories of movement are used in dance and creative movement. Locomotor movements are
movements in which the body travels from one location to another. Examples include walking,
running, hopping, jumping, skipping, leaping, galloping, and sliding.

2. Explain briefly the following reason why do people dance;


a. To please gods
- Dance that incorporates music and movement as a form of worship rather than as an
expression of art or as entertainment. Praise dancers use their bodies to express the word and
spirit of God.

b. To please others
- Through dance, students learn teamwork, focus, and improvisational skills.
Dance awakens new perceptions in children which help them learn and think in new ways.
Children need to express and communicate their ideas and to be given the opportunity to make
creative decisions, even at a young age.

c. To please themselves of self-expression


- Dance is a natural form of self-expression: the body expresses itself naturally
and so therefore does the spirit. We are all free willed beings, no matter what our personal
situation may be. Through dance, our body expresses how free we are, while also highlighting
the restrictions our minds impose on it.

d. To build community
- Dance can contribute to the personal and social development, and the health and
wellbeing of individuals in society. When it actively engages people as creative
participants, dance can help build stronger communities and enhanced engagement with wider
social agendas.
3. In what way do dance can be used as a gesture in order to communicate?
- People communicate various messages in the act of dance, communicating with their
bodies every time they dance. The meanings associated with messages sent by people who are
dancing in a social setting are evident through the codes of space, touch, facial expressions, and
eye contact.

4. Why is it the Ancient Greece included dance in their military training?


- Dance was an important part of Greek life. It played a role in Greek religious
ceremonies, drama, education of the young, and even military training. Women had military
training and performed some of the men's military dances to make themselves strong for
childbearing.

5. How dance in the Philippines being used as an approach to courtship?


- Dance in the Philippines being used as an approach to courtship by allowing
the dancers to display their vigor and attractiveness and to engage in socially accepted physical
contact between the sexes. We can use Cariñosa dance because this is a courtship dance known
throughout the Philippines with its flirtatious movements. The word “carinosa” means
affectionate, amiable, or lovable.

6. Cite examples of Physical benefits of dance.


- Stronger bones and reduced risk of osteoporosis.
- Better coordination, agility, and flexibility.
- Improved balance and spatial awareness.
- Increased physical confidence.
- Improve posture and flexibility, lift mood and ease anxiety.
- Increases aerobic power and strength, builds social bonds, and can reduce pain and
stiffness.

7. How dance can contribute to the individual’s potential for self-actualization in society?
- Dancing develops skills that can translate to many non-dance career paths. The
confidence gained through achievements in dance builds social skills, increases self-esteem and
the ability to communicate well in a group.

8. How dance promotes cultural values of every tribes or places in our country?
- Dance promotes cultural values of every tribes in way that dancing is a form of artistic
expression as well as sensual, evocative art. Today, we find dance in all aspects of culture: in
gestures we use every day, in religious ceremonies, in mating rituals, in popular culture, in
entertainment, in fitness, and in fine art.
