Detailed Lesson Plan in Grade 8 MAPEH

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to do the following:
a. Recognize the instrumental music and different musical instruments of Japan
b. Identify the different musical instruments of Japan
c. Perform an improvised musical instruments that are similar to Japanese
Musical Instruments.

b. Sub-Topic: Music of Japan
c. References: Music and Asian of Arts (pp. 63-68) Grade 8 Learner’s Module
d. Materials: Laptop, Speakers, Visual Aids

Instrumental of Japanese and
Japanese Music Instruments
- Did you know class that the
traditional Japanese music is
basically meditative in
character.
- Some music is played in
religious festivals, work,
dance, love, and regional
songs.
- So, the Japanese Musical
Instruments is classified into
three. The Membranophone
or the Percussion
Instruments, Chordophone
or String Instruments and
lastly is the Aerophone or
the Wind Instruments.

Membranophone or membranophone.

is any musical instruments
whose sounds is generated
by striking and rubbing.
- Next is the Chordophone.
Chordophone or string
instruments is a musical
instrument that makes sound
by way of vibrating strings.

- Last is the Aerophone or the
Wind instrument. A musical
instrument in which sound is
produced by vibration of air.
- Example of Aerophone is
Saxophone.

barrel drum

- Next is the Chordophone
Instrument.
- Koto has a 13-string about
two meters long.
- Shamisen is a plucked
stringed instrument.
- Biwa is a short-necked
fretted lute.
- Let’s go to Aerophone.
- Shakuhachi it is the most
famous flute made from
bamboo. It has four holes.
- Nokan a parallel bamboo
flute.
- Hichiriki is double ree
Japanese flute.
- Sho is a a Japanese free reed
musical instrument.
- Shinobue is a Japanese flute
that has a high pitch sound.
- Ryuteki literally “dragon
flute”

IV. Generalization

V. Application

- After discussing, the teacher will divide the class into 5 groups. The teacher will play
audiovisual presentation and each group must identify the instrument that has been
played in the presentation. The group that will have the most number of points
wins.

VI. Evaluation

- The students will now have an individual activity. The teacher will show pictures and
the students will name the instruments and identify whether it is Membranophone,
Chordophone, Aeorophone.

VII. Assignment

- Advance reading about the Chinese Music.
