Chapter 2

SOURCES OF DATA

This chapter presents the research design, setting of the study, subject of the study,

sources of data, research procedure and statistical treatment.

Research Design

The researchers used the descriptive method of research specifically in employing the

survey strategy to determine the assessment of the selected respondents in sustainable

tourism of Calawis, Antipolo.

Descriptive research are intimately related with data-based studies, but not bounded

with experimental data collection method, and case studies. Surveys are also be determined

as popular data collection methods used with descriptive studies.

Descriptive research refers to the kind of research questions, design, and data analysis

that will be employed to the topic.

Setting Of The Study

The researchers selected this three tourist destination in Calawis as the central areas

to conduct the survey distribution.

First destination is Bunsuran Falls which located at Brgy. Calawis, Antipolo Rizal,

bounded to Paenaan to Kanto Veterans, and across the Mt. Purro Nature Reserve.Second

destination is Mt. Kinapuin, its location is Purok 4 Barangay, Anitpolo Rizal. Crossing the

Calawis road passing through the Calawis Christian Church, Barangay Hall, and Cabus

Snack House (a convenience store), taking a straight ahead route to get reach the

destination.

Lastly is the Apia River which is also known for the Manadlam Falls, it is located in Sitio

Apia Brgy. Calawis Antipolo City, Rizal.


The mentioned tourist destinations are not totally accessible by any mode of

transportation.

Subject Of The Study

The focal point of the study emphasizes the statements of the chosen respondents for

the research in Calawis Antipolo. The respondents are classified into three groups: the

residents, the facilitator, and the tourist. The three sightseer destinations were selected

intentionally by the researchers to evaluate and discover what could be the ways to reform

and develop the site to reach its absolute capacity as a tourist attraction.

The three tourist attractions are the Bunsuran falls, Mt. Kinapuin, and the Apia River.

Purposive sampling is a method of non-probability sampling in which researchers depend

on their assessment when selecting members of the population to take part in the study. It is

also perceived as judgemental, selective, or nonobjective sampling. This sampling method

expects researchers to have primary knowledge about the objective of the studies that

suitably decide and address eligible participants by the researchers.

The researchers resolved the evaluation of the respondents with concern to amenities,

habitat, climate, staff and services addressed to the respondents.

Source Of Data

The researchers used the questionnaire checklist as the main instrument in collecting

the necessary data which is substantial in the study.

The content input to the questionnaire checklist was formalized by the experts in the

field of research. In specifying the respondents assessment towards the communication,

transportation, amenities, environment & climate, and pricing in the Sustainable tourism of

Calawis, following the order; (5) highly satisfied, (4) satisfied, (3) neutral, (2) dissatisfied,

(1) highly dissatisfied. Apart from the assessment on the sustainable tourism of Calawis, the
profile of the participants were gathered including the age, gender, and occupation.

Procedure Of The Study

As to start with the probe of the study on the assessment of sustainable tourism of

Calawis, the researches concluded the preliminary formulation of the research figure;

communication, transportation, amenities, environment & climate, and pricing.

Regarding the means in data gathering, the checklist questionnaires were set towards

the people who have relevant understanding related to the titular research. The questionnaire

has two part which include the profile inputs of the respondents, and the actual questions of

the survey which is the significant part of the paper.

The gathered data of the respondents' assessments were analyzed and interpreted.

Once the distribution has finally retrieved, implying all the appropriates such as the

statistical tools. Summation of the findings, the conclusions, recommendations were all

formulated, followed by the final revision of the research paper.

Statistical Treatment

The data obtained were statistically treated by using the following:

1. To determine the profile of the respondents, mean will be used

2. To determine the perceptions of the respondents with respect to the communication,

transportation, amenities, environment and climate, and pricing. Frequency scale remark

distribution will be used.

3. To define the significant difference between the perception of the respondents on the

sustainable tourism in Calawis. One way ANOVA will be utilized.
