Like the Molave

The freedom, peace, and justice that we have today are all because of the abounding
skill of our national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. He poured his courage and sacrificed his life to fight
for what is right against the colonizers. He selflessly devoted all his efforts to accomplish his
goal and held strong to fulfill his objectives for his family, his people, and for the whole nation.
Without his bravery, the Philippines will not be into what it is now.

Although, at the moment, we have been experiencing a plunge of chaos. Our society is
once again governed by corruption, abused power, and tyranny. And the situation today, the
pandemic, has made it even more obvious and evident. Because of this, I am very sad for my
nation. I can say that we are being controlled by the higher-ups because I don’t feel their
compassion especially for the oppressed. This is also evidenced by the increased number of
people being jobless, getting sick, and attacked by their abused position in the country. With
what we are suffering right now, Rizal is one of the best persons that we can look up to as an
inspiration. His triumphs and sacrifice can make us hopeful and passionate about our duties as
Filipinos. It makes us more powerful to stand for what we believe in. We should care enough
about these attacks and oppose their inequality. We can freely protest against their acts
through different platforms such as social media, and speak out for this oppression. Just like
Jose Rizal, who fought and started a revolution only using his pen and paper as his weapon.

We all deserve a place that is dominated by fairness and righteousness. At a time when
our rights and sense of humanity are being challenged, it helps to be inspired by the life and
works of our national hero, the one who was the most prominent victim of injustice and
violence.
