Noli Me Tangere
It highlights the dark side of Spain's colonial reign in the Philippines, with
a focus on the role of Catholic friars. During this time period, the concept
of a president was yet to exist, making the Spanish clergy themselves the
embodiment of the main ruler.
The friars played a major role not only in propagating the Christian
religion, but additionally withinside the political, social, financial, and
cultural elements of the Filipinos.
The political institution during the Spanish colonial period has instilled
fear among the weak and ignorant due to the treatment given at that
time.

El Filibusterismo
In Simoun's death and Father Florentino's lamentations, Jose Rizal proved
that violence is never the answer. The ultimate tragedy demonstrated
that violence is never the solution to these problems. It's simply a method
of replacing an old problem with a new one.
Dr. Jose Rizal tries to show that revolution is not the answer, but that it
can enable us to get closer to independence.
El Filibusterismo portrayed how wrath and vengeance can devour a
person's entire being.

Noli Me Tangere
It portrays the different aspects of gaining independence especially in
tackling abusive power, family devotion, self-sacrifice, purity, and
faithfulness.
Another evident in the novel was the patriotism of Crisostomo Ibarra to
his country. It shows the forth justice of Filipinos by all means.
I discovered that this novel helped to understand the situation of our
ancestors especially when the Philippines was invaded by the Spaniards.

El Filibusterismo
In this novel, I was intrigued because Rizal showed his maturity when it
comes to writing wherein it’s a tale of revenge against the conquerors.
It’s full of twists and interesting insights since it revealed the awakening
of the Filipinos against abusive legislators.
Filipinos must stand on their way in governing their own country by
addressing and avoiding suffered injustices. This novel lies strength and
opportunity in influencing the Filipinos nationalism

Noli Me Tangere
Since the novel is about the abuse of power, greed, oppression, and
sorrow, it tells us to become aware of everything that works in our
society and fight for ourselves, our country, and what is ethically right.
Noli Me Tangere awakened and free the Filipinos from the hands of
oppressors which leads people to learn the importance of wisdom,
education, and patriotism.
Social Climbing is not good and is a threat to someone's growth. Their
social butterfly behavior will just lead to low self-esteem and self-
comparison.

El Filibusterismo
El Filibusterismo mainly focused on the government system and abuses.
This novel tells us to criticize and not tolerate any wrongdoings like
corruption, killings, and other injustices in our society.
This novel taught us that violence is never the answer in fighting
injustices. This will just create a bigger problem.
Noli me Tangere or also known as the Touch Me Not, a book by Dr. Jose Rizal
contains a lot of symbolism and true incidents that prompted the Filipino people to
organize a revolution and oust the Spanish colonizers during the Spanish
colonization. Every character in Noli Me Tangere plays a particular role in Philippine
society to counter the country's liberation. The story portrayed real-life events such
as the Friars' command rulings being even more powerful than the Governor-
General's, social concerns, injustice, and the Philippines' status as a backward
country during the Spanish colonization of the Philippines. The struggles in the
novel are still present in today's generation, and they have an impact on our society
and country. Corruption, injustice, poverty, and abuse, all of which were prevalent in
the novel, remains to be a concern today.

El Filibusterismo was written by Dr. Jose P. Rizal to teach us how an individual can
cultivate anger and build a thirst for vengeance. El Filibusterismo also shared that
aggression is not a solution to the crisis that we face in life. We should not degrade
ourselves to the extent of engaging in violence, hatred, or anger to secure ourselves.

Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo are two well-known works by our national
hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, that have been similar in some respects and dissimilar in others.
The two novels both cover how Spaniards abused Filipinos, the church's abuse of
power, and discrimination against Filipinos. Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo
both have a strong anti-clerical, even anti-Catholic tone to them. The latter is
released as a sequel or continuation, so they share common elements. I believe that
people have gradually learned to be critical and liberated with their thoughts
regarding the people ruling them, and the principles of democracy have been
brought by the Americans to grant self-determination to the Philippines. But
although we are now entitled to our own opinions, some people abuse it and the
power that comes with it. The balance of power may have changed but there is
always that possibility of returning to imbalance when the authorities themselves
become corrupt and use their power for personal gain. A great example would be
the Martial Law under former president Ferdinand Marcos. The first few months
were fine until he declared dictatorship and have violated human rights such as the
right to freedom of expression and the right to freedom from torture. Instances
such as these are the manifestation of abuse and a great imbalance of power. In
conclusion, the balance of power between institutions and individuals has changed
through time both positively and negatively, but with the right leaders, our country
would be able to sustain a steady and justified improvement in this.
