C. For you, what is the most effective way in bridging the communication gap among
multi-generational community? Why? (cite supporting details) (5 points)

In bridging multi-generational community, open-mindedness of both generations

should be considered. Both parties should be unbiased and accepting towards the
indifferences of each generation. The two were born and grew on a different milieu
that’s why the viewpoint of each may differ but being broad-minded will benefit the both
generations. Understanding, respect and open-mindedness will lead to meaningful
communication where generations can motivate each other and bring out the best in
each other (Heng & Yazdanifard, 2013, p. 839; Walmsley, 2011, p. 256).

D. What are your thoughts with the statement in the reading “both generations indicate
that they feel that without face-to-face communication with verbal and nonverbal cues,
they miss out on many aspects of interpersonal communication” (p. 505, Venter, 2017)
specifically in times of a global pandemic such as Covid-19? (8 points)

The pandemic has greatly affected the people in many aspects, but somehow,
for others, it became an opportunity to let them flourish their skills and capabilities in a
sense where they excel much more in this kind setup instead in face-to-face
communication. Although, people differ in many ways because some hasn’t even coped
up in this kind of situation. The lack of physical contact and communication with people
makes me feel lonely for the reason that I am used to seeing them every day, hang out
and have a spontaneous journey with them. Also, the learning experience nowadays
resulted me of being demotivated. It is hard to learn especially when you are just alone
sitting in front of your device without your mood boosters. It feels empty. It’s kind of
different level when you communicate with face-to-face instead of seeing or meeting the
people on digital platforms. In addition, it could be misinterpreted the way we one
coveys his/her messages and it can result confusion.
