Nowadays young people spend a lot of time playing computer games mainly due to the
developments in technology. Most homes have a game console or a computer and the majority
of people have a smart phone which can be used for games while out. But is this a bad thing?
Personally I believe there are several points to coinsider.
Many people believe that games are just for fun or to pass the time however, there are some
real benefits. Many are multiplayer which means that you learn about team work and strategies
if fighting a common enemy or how to compete in virtual sports as well as hand eye
coordination.
It’s true that people can become addicted to gaming and even lose touch with reality a little.
What’s more some people prefer to play instead of hanging out with friends, having quality time
with family, or playing sport. Although, it can be a good option on a rainy day.
It’s also worth considering the affect on our health. A few video games are based on exercise
like, dance games or wii fit. But having said that, most of them are played while sitting leading
to health problems for example obesity in young people and encourage loneliness.
All in all, I believe that video games can be a fun way spend some of your free time but they
shouldn’t be your main hobby or replace face to face activities and sport.
