SELF REFLECTION :

INSET Training is very essential and useful to us teachers to upgrade our skills
especially in the New Normal. We learn new learning modalities and strategies to cater the
needs of the learners.

During the discussion of Sir Prajedes , he mentioned that teachers need to be creative
and flexible in assessing student’s learning especially in the new normal. Like for instance,
some students rely with their parents/ other knowledgeable person to answer their modules
and summative test; or they tend to copy their classmate answers. I learned during this session
that teachers should ensure that the students receive remediation when they earn raw scores
which are consistently below our expectations and/ or undergo on the spot monitoring and
visitation to ensure authenticity of their answers. But we cannot deny the fact that sometimes
we used our heart in passing a learner were shouldn’t be done.

I also learned that as a teacher, we must exercise professional judgement in giving

summative test which provides enough opportunities to the learners to practices and redo their
work so that they can reach their learning goals with least amount of pressure. So let us be
more flexible and strengthen our patients in teaching our learners.
