Purpose of Study

Engineering and its applied aspects have always fascinated me. I have had the opportunity of
interacting with many people in the industry right from my formative years. These interactions
left a strong impression on me. Electronics is so fundamental that other industries cannot help
it but rely upon it. This fact coupled with my natural inclination for mathematical and physical
sciences during the early stage of my education made engineering a natural career choice for
me.

In today’s competitive world ken is the basic factor to hold the dominance & to secure a career
with plenty of opportunities for upward mobility in the industry. It is my strong perception that
a basic undergraduate education is inadequate for acquiring in depth knowledge of a field. So I
look forward for my Graduate study in order to broaden my horizon in the areas of my interest.
The desire to meet the challenges of the present day along with my penchant for learning has
been my motive in pursuing graduate studies

The Masters’ Degree will also help me consummate my already earned knowledge. I believe it
will serve to give direction to my goals of a career as a research professional.

Academic Background

I have successfully completed the undergraduate program in Electronics and Communication

Engineering from the Sapthagiri College Of Engineering, Bangalore, affiliated to Visvesvaraya
Technological University, Belgaum, India. The undergraduate program has given me an exposure
to a wide variety of subjects such as Operations Management and Operations Research, an
overview of Electronics and Communication Engineering, which is so vast in its domain and
applications. The experience at Sapthagiri College of Engineering has taught me to cope with
unexpected situations and to have a positive approach. As a part of my course work I
successfully completed a Project titled “Speech Security System For Electrical Lineman”.

Experience
My work experience in the field of marketing, manufacturing and management has further
strengthened my interest in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. I have worked
for Gayatri Educational Academy as marketing/administrative officer for about 6 months where I
had a privilege of participating in educational fairs which was held in Nepal and Bhutan. I also
had the privilege of interacting with students of different culture and background. I have
recruited around 30+ students for the institution which has strongly enhanced my marketing
and management skills.

My interest in the field of manufacturing goes back to my early days where my dad had a small
scale industry where we used to manufacture polythene bags and films and supply the same to
different clients all over the city. The amount of work that was involved has fascinated me.
Hence it is my dream to carry forward the industry and make this small scale venture into a big
one with use of latest and innovative technologies.

My present work also involves lot of manufacturing and marketing skills. I also have the
privilege of working for Advanced Electronics which is into assembling and marketing of
transformer parts.

Objectives
My immediate objective is an M.S. in Supply Chain Management with the ultimate aim of
making significant contribution to the research being carried out in the field of Industrial
Engineering with the specialization in Supply Chain Management. Supply chain is an
extremely integral part of marketing. It gives an understanding into the flow of goods which is
necessary to be a good Marketing person. My long-term goal is to carve out for myself a
successful and fulfilling career in the supply chain sector by setting up a marketing organization.
There are only few universities that offer my course work and I have zeroed on University Of
Texas, Dallas; University Of Southern California; Sunny Buffalo; mainly because of the courses on
offer such as 'Logistics and Supply Chain Management'. I have also been in specific very keen to
be part of the research being carried out by Dr. in the field of and Dr.
in the field of . I thus intend to pursue my master’s degree in Supply Chain
Management in the United States where I would be exposed to the latest technologies.

Finally
With a desire to be a part of a more stimulating and challenging system of education, which
places an emphasis on thinking and one, which does not stifle merit and creativity. I believe that
your university provides the kind of exposure needed to broaden my thinking and undo the
insular prejudices that might be still prevalent in me. The faculty’s reputation for excellent
teaching, challenging coursework and the excellent facilities are added attractions. In a
university of such confluence of people from every culture, nationality, region and ideology, I

am sure that exposure to these diverse influences would aid in the overall development of my
personality.

In retrospect I find myself having a firm foundation in engineering fundamentals, I am confident
