TEACHER ACTIVITY PUPILS ACTIVITY
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new
lesson
Let us all stand for a prayer to be lead to us by Allysa. Allysa will lead a prayer.
Our Father on Heaven
Thank you Allyza.
Good morning Ma’am.
Good morning class.

Today, we are going to start our lesson with a game

it’s called “Pair me Up”
I would need 5 male volunteers and 5 female The pupil will come forward.
volunteers to come in front to hold these metacards I
have prepared.

The mechanic of the game is very simple.

All you have to do is to find and paur the meaning of
the metacards that the boys are holding to the metacards
that the girls are have. (Social Learning) (answer might vary with their arrangements)
STAMEN- male part of a flower.
Who would like to find one pair of the word to it’s
meaning, Yes, R-Jhae?

Very Good! POLLINATION- process by which pollens grains from the anther are
transferred to the stigma.
How about you Jannuel?

Absolutely Correct!
SPORES- reproductive system of ferns.
Would you try to pair a word Julie Ann?

Great Job! REPRODUCTION- the ability of an organism to make new individuals.

Let us try Joana.
CONIFERNS- plants that bear seeds within a cone.
Amazing! And the last pair , will you try Erwin?
Very Good Job! You’ve got it all correct. It shows that you
really understood our last lesson. Let us give ourselves a
round of applause
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
(ENGAGE)
Who among you love flowers? Pupils will raise their hand.

Why do we need to love flowers? We need to love flowers because they give color to our environment.
Yes, Aiza?

Exactly! What else , yes Ashton? Because they make us happy.

Very Good!

Can you name some flowers?

Yes , Ronalyn? Gumamela, Ma’am.

Right!
Yes, Reymart? Santan, Ma’am

Very Good!
What else, yes Angelo? Bougainvella Ma’am.

Yes! you are all right.

We can see different types of plants everywhere. They

differ in size, shape, color, smell and even in their mode
of reproduction.
Like animals, plants need to continuously reproduce
through their seeds while some utilize other means.

C. Presenting examples/ instances of the new lesson

(EXPLORE)
Today we are going to learn more about the different
ways of plant reproduction.
But before we go through further with our lesson ,
we will have a group activity .
I Will divide the class into 3 groups. Look under your desk
and see what flowers are paste on it which will serve as
your group.
(The teacher will show their groupings)
Group 1- Gumamela
Group 2-Rose
Group 3- Sampaguita
Did you know class that the
name Sampaguita comes from the Spanish
word “sumpa kita” which in translation means “I
promise you.
Declared as the national flower by Gov. Gen. Frank
Murphy through Proclamation No. 652 s. 1934, the
sweet-smelling white flowers of sampaguita (the
plant is a woody vine or shrub) has long been
celebrated in song, stories and legends

Cooperate with your groupmates, Ma’am.

Before you go to your groupmates, what are the things
we must always remember whenever there is a group
activity?
Yes. Erwin?
Work quietly, Ma’am.
Correct! What else, Yes Ronabeth?

You are right! I think you are now ready for your
activity.
May I ask everyone now to move to your groupmates The pupils will go to their respective groupings.)
quietly.
(Problem Based Learning and Discovery Learning)
Our activity is called “Guess how I become many”
Each group will be given a chart to answer.
As you can see I have here different kinds of plant
with me. All you need to do is to identify and
name these plants and think how they
reproduce by putting a check mark in the proper
column.
Once you are done just simply raise these sticks for
me to recognize the first one who will finish the
activity.
Here is the rubric for your activity.

Did you understand what to do? Yes Ma’am.

(The pupils will work on their activity.)

The first to finish is group 2. Let us give them a clap.

Let us now check your answers. Flowering Through Through Through Through

(EXPLAIN)
(The teacher will ask the questions.)

Which of the flowering plants I presented grow from

seeds? The plants that grow from seeds is Cosmos.
Yes, Princess?

Correct!

Which of the flowering plants do not grow from seeds?

Yes, Zaijan? Gumamela, Rose, Welcome plant, Onion, Kataka-taka, San Francisco,
Water Lilies, Bougainvella and Mayana, Ma’am.
Very Good!

How do flowering plants reproduce? They reproduce through seeds, stem cuttings, Leaf cutting ans
suckers/underground shoots, Ma’am.

Very Good!

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2

(EXPLAIN)
Let us have another game.
We will call this game as “Arrange Me”
All you need to do is to arrange the jumbled letters I
am going to show you to form a word using the guide
question.
Just raise your hand if you want to answer. The one
who will answer it first will have a reward.
Are you ready?

The first question is,

1. What type of reproduction do flowering plants Yes, Ma’am.
have if they produce new plants through seeds
from flowers?

EXSULA RPEROUDCITON

Yes, Joy?

Very Good. Let us give him a clap.

SEXUAL REPRODUCTION, Ma’am.
What do we call again the reproduction of plants
through seeds?

Sexual reproduction happens when pollen grains Sexual Reproduction, Ma’am.

are transferred from the anthers(male) into the
stigma (female) which is called pollination.

There are two type of Sexual reproduction.

(The teacher will show the picture and will discuss the
difference between self-pollination and cross-pollination)

 Self-Pollination is the transfer of pollen grains

from the anther to the stigma of the same flower
or of a different flower that belongs to the same
plant.
Examples of Self-pollinating plants are:
 Rice Plant
 Wheat
 Barley
 Oats
 Tomatoes
 Potatoes
 Apricots
 Peaches

 Cross-Polllination is the transfer of pollen grains

from the anther of a flower to the stigma of
another flower that belongs to another plant but
of the same kind.
Examples of Cross-Pollinating Plants are
 Mulberry
 Squash
 Straberries
 Grapes
 Daffodils
 Grasses

According to the video, what are the mentioned agents of
cross-pollination?
Yes, Ronalyn?
Wind,Water and Animals , Ma’am.
Once a pollen grains enters the stigma, it swells
and grows a long tube that travels through the
style until it reaches the ovary, the tube releases
the sperm cells into the ovule to fertilize the egg
cell. The fertilize egg and the ovule itself
develops into a seed. The ovary then enlarges
and thickens its walls to become some fruit.
These seeds grow into a new plant.

Can you give an example of plants that grows

from seed?

The next question is…. Eggplant, Marigold , Sunflower…(The pupils will give more examples.)
2. What type of reproduction do flowering plants
have if they produce new plants through other
plant parts. ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION, Ma’am.

SAEXALU ERPORCDUITNO

Yes, Cyrus?
Asexual Reproduction in plant does not involve
seed. Vegetative propagation is a form of asexual
reproduction where new plants are produced
from one part of a parent plant.
New plant can grow from roots, stems, and
leaves of a parent plant.

Will you give an example of plants that

reproduce asexually?
Yes, Rolando?

Very Good!

Rose, Bougainvella, sugar cane……(The pupils will give more

examples.)
F. Developing mastery
(Leads to formative assessment)
Let us describe the modes of reproduction of flowering
plants. Let us sing the song Bahay Kubo.
As we sing I want you to list some of the plants
mentioned in the song that reproduce sexually and
asexually.
(The teacher will play the song and together with the
pupils they will sing it all together.)
Folk song, Ma'am.
What kind of song is “Bahay Kubo”?

How many plants(fruits and vegatables) are mentioned in There are 18 fruits and vegatables mentioned in the song Ma’am.
the song Bahay Kubo?

Yes, Edward?

Let us try to list the plants mentioned on the song. What

are they , will you give me one? Singkamas (Turnip), Ma’am.

Yes, Ranah? Eggplant (Talong), Ma’am.

Right! Yes Aiza? (The pupil will give more examples. )

Sexual reproduction produces new plant through seeds while asexual

reproduction produces new plant with the other parts of the plant
How do sexual and asexual reproduction take place in such roots, stem , leaves , bulb, rhizome, corm, tuber or runners.
flowering plants?

G. Finding practical/ applications of concepts and

skills in daily living
Why is reproduction in flowering plants important to
humans?
Will you try, Yes Novelyn? They can feed insects, birds, animals and humans.
They can also provide natural medicines to humans and some animals.

What might happen to humans if flowering plants do not

reproduce anymore?
Yes , Jannuel? We might not have fruits and vegatables to eat and our environment
will be dull.
Very Good!

I will divide the class into four groups. Each group will be (Differentiated Instruction)
given a jigsaw puzzle to complete then identify the
flowering plants and the way it reproduce? GROUP 1-BOUGAINVELLA (Asexual)
We are going to use the same rubric a while ago.

GROUP 2- SUNFLOWER (Sexual)

GROUP 3- KATAKA-TAKA (Asexual)

GROUP 4- KAMOTE (Asexual)

Great job! You’ve got your job done perfectly!

ACTIVITY 2: COMPLETE ME
With the same group , let’s move on to your next activity. Direction: Check ( ) the column that corresponds to the correct mode
I will be giving an envelope with your activity inside. Clap of reproduction of the plants listed in the first column.

parts and no sex cells are involved.
B. Asexual reproduction takes place when flowers produce seeds.
C. Fertilization takes place in asexual reproduction in plants.
D. Asexual reproduction requires pollination in flowers.
H. Making generalizations and abstractions about
the lesson
What are the two ways plant can reproduce?
Will you try, Marlon? Flowering plants reproduce sexually and asexually.

Very Good!
What is the other term for sexual reproduction? Pollination.

What are the two types of pollination? Self-Pollination and Cross-Pollination.

When plant reproduction does not involve seeds, what do Asexual Reproduction.
we call this process?

Very Good! It is Asexual Reproduction.

In asexual reproduction we have different modes how
plants grow, Most Shrubs like rose plant, bougenvillea, Stem Cuttings.
and sugar cane grow through?

The modified stem in onion and tulip are called? Bulb

When does sexual reproduction takes place?
Corms
How about gladiolus, taro and gabi? It is through there?
While Potato and Sweet potato grow through their
tubers. Runners.

How does strawberry plant grow? Kataka-taka

There are young plants that grow through their leaves

such as ? Ferns and mosses

However there are plants that can grow both sexually and
asexually like?

Very Good! You have really understood our lesson. I think

you are now ready for your individual activity.
