Please note that this text has not been through the Edexcel endorsement process. The
questions, example answers, marks awarded and/or comments that appear here were
written by the author. In examination, the way marks would be awarded to answers
like these may be different.
This document includes all the exam-style writing tasks from the Edexcel IGCSE ®
Spanish Student Book Second Edition. For each exam-style writing task there are
details of what the examiner is looking for, a sample Student A answer with examiner
comments and details of how to improve the mark, and a sample Student B answer
with examiner comments. The Student A answer is always of a lower standard than
Student B. Although a real student answer may include errors in the spelling or
grammar, we have not included these here so as not to confuse students looking at
these answers.
Note that not all writing tasks in the Student Book are exam-style. Only the exam-style
tasks appear here.
For further details about how these tasks would be marked in the exam, please refer
to the Edexcel website for detailed marking guidance. The mark schemes used here are
simplified so they can be more easily understood by students.
Here are some suggestions as to how you may wish to use these answers with your
class:
 Ask students to complete the exam-style task from the Student Book first. Then give
them the Student B answer and help them to identify good points to help them to
improve their own answer.
 Ask students to compare Student A and B answers and identify what Student B has
done better.
 Give students the question and Student A answer and help them to identify how it
should be improved. Then ask them to write their own answer.

2A.4 Las relaciones familiares (p. 65)

5 Vuelves de una visita a un amigo. Escribe entre 130 y 150 palabras en español.

En mi familia hay cinco personas: mi padre, mi madre, mi abuela, mi hermana y yo. Mi

abuela vive con nosotros porque es muy vieja y mi madre cuida de mi abuela. Mi abuela
pierde la memoria un poco pero es alerta y una persona muy inteligente. Me llevo bien
con ella porque es tan inteligente.
Mi amigo vive con su madre pero visita a su padre cada fin de semana y también pasa
una noche allí. Sus padres están divorciados. Hay problemas económicos porque su
madre no trabaja. Nosotros no tenemos este problema pero hay que cuidar a la abuela.
También en la familia de mi amigo hay cinco personas, pero es complicado porque hay un
amigo de su madre que ahora vive en su casa. Es una persona amable pero no es su
padre.

En casa somos cinco; me llevo muy bien con mis dos hermanos gemelos porque son muy
graciosos pero mi madre y yo siempre discutimos. A veces la discusión es tonta pero
aunque las dos lo sabemos, es difícil evitar los gritos. Supongo que tenemos demasiadas
cosas en común.
En la familia de mi amiga siempre hay problemas con el dinero, nosotros tenemos suerte
porque mi padre trabaja mucho; nuestro problema es la televisión porque nunca nos
ponemos de acuerdo sobre el programa que queremos ver.
La familia de mi amiga es totalmente diferente de la mía porque cuando discuten no se

enfadan; nosotros siempre gritamos.

no lo hago bien. Pero es muy difícil convencer a mi madre porque ella siempre dice que
tengo que ayudar con las tareas domésticas.
Todos los días tenemos que fregar los platos pero mi hermano busca excusas y sale al
jardín. Dice que así ayuda a mi padre.
Durante la semana, mi hermano ayuda un poco pero hoy es sábado y ¿dónde está? Fue a
ver el partido de fútbol que dice que es muy importante. Mi padre le acompaña,
naturalmente, y mi madre cuida de mi hermanita. Esto significa que yo soy la que tiene

 Realise how important it is to deal with the exact wording of a bullet point: here, the
student has lost marks because the instruction refers to chores preferred, but the
answer deals with chores which are disliked.

siempre están planchando la ropa. En realidad, me gusta quitar el polvo porque sé que lo
hago bien. Prefiero ayudar con estas tareas porque la casa queda bien limpia.

con ella. Siempre me cuenta cosas interesantes. También me gusta cocinar con ella
porque aprendo mucho.

de arte, un restaurante (para comer) y también fuimos al parque del Retiro.
Madrid es una ciudad importante, pero también tiene muchos problemas… y no me gustó
la contaminación de los coches y los camiones. Fuimos en tren y fuimos en metro pero
con muchos turistas en Madrid es difícil viajar. No me gustó el metro porque hacía
mucho calor.
Para mis próximas vacaciones voy a cambiar de destino: voy a ir con un grupo de amigos,
una tienda de campaña y voy a viajar a América. Voy a ver Florida y voy a visitar
Disneyland y voy a visitar Orlando, Washington y New England.

interesantes. Me gustó ver obras modernas y después comimos en un restaurante muy
céntrico. Lo mejor de la visita fue la comida porque todo estaba muy bueno.
Madrid es una gran ciudad, pero también con grandes problemas… y no me gustó la
contaminación producida por los coches y los camiones. Dicen que las cosas mejorarán
pronto pero aunque tiene espacios verdes, el ruido es constante.
Para mis próximas vacaciones he decidido que voy a cambiar de destino: mi intención es
ir con un grupo de amigos, una tienda de campaña y disfrutar del paisaje.

me gusta mucho el fútbol era interesante ir.
Durante el espectáculo la acción era muy emocionante y mucha gente disfrutó del
partido. Al final del partido un equipo era superior y el resultado era 2–1. Para mí era el
resultado perfecto.
Al salir me gustó porque mi padre me presentó a uno de los jugadores del equipo. Era un
jugador muy especial para mí y era bastante famoso. Fue muy amable y tengo su
camiseta ahora en mi habitación. Es una camiseta blanca y negra del club y todos mis
amigos la han visto — están muy celosos.

un policía y fui a una oficina del estadio. En la oficina hablé con una persona y me ayudó
con un formulario para los detalles. El lunes me puse contento porque me llamaron del
estadio para decir que mi cartera estaba allí.
Me encantó la experiencia y quiero volver lo antes posible. Le voy a pedir a mi padre que
me acompañe a ver el próximo encuentro de liga.
