1. Do you really think that society benefits from genetic engineering.

Explain

Answer:

Yes, I believe, somehow our society benefited from genetic engineering. It is a potential method to either treat or cure
genetic related human illnesses. By knocking out genes responsible for certain conditions it is possible to create
animal model organisms of human diseases. As well as producing hormones, vaccines and other drugs. Genetic
engineering has the potential to cure genetic diseases though gene theraphy

2. In what ways does genetic engineering helped humans their pursuit of The Good Life

Answer:

Genetic Engineering help us to cure or treat human illnesses. Genetic engineering also helps speed up the process of
creating new foods with desired traits. The possible benefits of genetic engineering are food is more nutrious, Food is
more tastier, Less us of pesticides, Increase supply of food with reduced cost and loner life, Faster growing plants and
animals, foods with desirable traits , such potatoes that produce less of a cancer-causing substance when fried and
medicinal foods that could be used as vaccines or other medicines.

3. Does the benefits and advantages we get from creating genetically modified organisms and products outweighs the
risks it brings us

Answer

The benefits to using GMOs are so great, that they cannot be ignored. They can help to solve hunger issues in
developing countries by increasing yields and nutritional values. However the risks are just as real. GMOs are so new
that scientists are unaware of the effects that they could have on humans in the long run. GMOs can also be harmful to
the environment. There are both benefits and risks with GMOs and all people should carefully consider them because
this is an issue that will change the world. While I understand the benefits to GMO crops, I believe that the risks
outweigh the benefits. However if GMO crops could lead to death, then there would be no people left to need food. I am
also worried about how the GMO crops are effecting our environment. I believe that we must think of ways to help end
starvation, however, we must find a way to feed as many people as possible without sacrificing our planet.:

4. Is genetic engineering is just merely a scientific process to help the society move forward or this is an act of "playing
God"

Answer:

I believe that Genetic engineering help our society to move forward. There are many things and advantages that the
GE contributed and help our society to grow more. It’s just that, we just need to weigh many things to balance the use
of the Genetic Engineering. Too much usage of it will cause the human. Scientist should study more, further testing
and research is required to educate society on the pros and cons of genetic engineering.

5. What is Nanotechnology. Explain

Answer:
Nanotechnology is the manipulation of material on an atomic or molecular scale especially to build microscopic
devices. The properties of some nanomaterials make them ideal for improving early diagnosis and treatment of
neurodegenerative diseases or cancer. They are able to attack cancer cells selectively without harming other healthy
cells. Some nanoparticles have also been used to enhance pharmaceutical products such as sunscreen.

6. How can nanoscience and nanotechnology has helped humans in their search of The Good Life

Answer:

Scientists and engineers are having great success making materials at the nanoscale to take advantage of enhanced
properties such as higher strength, lighter weight, increased electrical conductivity, and chemical reactivity compared
to their larger-scale equivalents. Some ways that nanotechnology impact our lives are:

a. Faster, smaller, and more powerful computers that consume far less power, with longer-lasting batteries.

b.  Faster, more functional, and more accurate medical diagnostic equipment.

c.  Nanoparticles in pharmaceutical products improve their absorption within the body and make them easier to deliver,
often through combination medical devices.

d. Improved vehicle fuel efficiency and corrosion resistance by building vehicle parts from nanocomposite materials
that are lighter, stronger, and more chemically resistant than metal.

e. Many drink bottles are made from plastics containing nanoclays, which increase resistance to permeation by
oxygen, carbon dioxide, and moisture. This helps retain carbonation and pressure and increases shelf life by several
months.

7. Discuss the development nanotechnology has given to society

Answer:

a. In electronics, Carbon nanotubes are close to replacing silicon as a material for making smaller, faster and more
efficient microchips and devices, as well as lighter, more conductive and stronger quantum nanowires.

b. In energy, nanotechnology lowers costs, produces stronger and lighter wind turbines, improves fuel efficiency and,
thanks to the thermal insulation of some nanocomponents, can save energy.

c. In Biomedicine, Air purification with ions, wastewater purification with nanobubbles or nanofiltration systems for
heavy metals are some of its environmentally-friendly applications. Nanocatalysts are also available to make chemical
reactions more efficient and less polluting

d. In foods, In this field, nanobiosensors could be used to detect the presence of pathogens in food or nanocomposites
to improve food production by increasing mechanical and thermal resistance and decreasing oxygen transfer in
packaged products.

e. In textile, Nanotechnology makes it possible to develop smart fabrics that don't stain nor wrinkle, as well as stronger,
lighter and more durable materials to make motorcycle helmets or sports equipment.
