Insan Cendekia Madani Middle School

Academic Year 2020-2021
Instruction :
 make an electrical circuit like the image suggested below using Phet simulation.
 read the instructions in each question first before performing the simulation.

Symbol of electricity diagrams

A. Connecting lamps in series.

You can use a cell to light up two lamps. The circuit diagram shows how to do this.

Image 1
1. Before you try this, make a prediction. How bright will the lamps be? Will they both be
equally bright, or will one be brighter than the other?
Try to give an explanation for your prediction. Discuss your ideas with a partner, and
then present them to the mainroom.

2. Build the circuit and test your ideas. Do you need to change your ideas?

3. Predict what you will observe if you make a circuit with three lamps, all in a row. Test
your prediction and result.

4. Take a screenshoot your circuit like diagram above from phet simulation here (as proof
that you have done a simulation)!

B. Measuring Electric current
1. Set up a circuit with a cell and two lamps, as before. You should find that the two lamps are
equally bright.

2. Connect an ammeter as shown at position 1 in a circuit. Note the value of the current.
3. Repeat with the ammeter at position 2, and then position 3

4. Discuss whether your results agree with what you found when you used lamps instead of
ammeter.
