❖ WHAT IS ROOM SERVICE

Room service or in-room dining is a hotel service enabling the guest to be able to choose items
of either food and drink for their hotel consumption .ROOM SERVICE is organised on high end
hotels and resort properties because of its high costs it cannot be offered to hotels that are not
of high end e.g motels. It is provided for guest 24/7.
MBWEMBWE HOTEL MANANGMENT SYSTEM

MEIKLES upgraded their room servicing by providing a computerised custom way of ordering room
service through their phone using the EPOS(Electronic Point Of Sale) software by sending SMS to the
hotels delivery or room servicing department or by sending a message or an email that will contain your
required deliveries and it is an essential way of letting people pay for goods and services provided on an
online platform. the hotel will have all of your details and will quickly the deliver costs are inquired from
your ordering are then charged to you when your stay is complete .This is however unwise as a
customer will not have enough knowledge of how much they owe and it ends up causing conflicts with
the customer and this will deteriorate the hotels vulnerability , will weaken the hotels image and
publicity

1.3

This is 2000 hotels statistics with the top 5 leading hotels in Harare but MEIKLES had declined because of
the room services that where provided and the amounting complaints and compliments from their
customers.

The best thing about a hotel is room service that determines if the hotel is HIGH QUALITY or not ROOM
SERVICE BOOST hotels profit but for MEIKLES it has become a liability as it prevented the MEIKLES hotel
from having a successful year and from them receiving the #1 hotel in ZIMBABWE an award that was
introduced in 201ministry of tourism act

Staff training
Staff should be aware of their services they offer as hotels employees to have greater knowledge on
ideas to increase to improve customer satisfaction and retention . The need of staff training and
seminars are essentials in the in building customer relationship . Customer dissatisfaction has been of
great concern in the industry .The absence of experienced staff can result to can lead to failure to
interpret the policy and however later causing disputes in claims settling .The customers expects the
department of room servicing to have relevant information concerning the company’s products so
expert knowledge is expected from them

❖ HOW WAS YOUR MEIKLES EXPERIENCE ?

I had a fantastic time at the hotel , my rooms view was actually an unique site the garden was
tremendous the workers were nice and cheerful they greeted me and made my stay at MEIKLES last a
life time but sadly my joy was short lived as their services were poor. I had ordered a cocktail and shrimp
at 6 but to my surprise it never came to my room I had to go to the dining room to be able to eat
