This appointment is dependent upon EC funded project OMA. Grant agreement number is 847296 and will be subject to the continuation of the availability of funding and the
project

A talented individual with a background in steel metallurgy, and with a knowledge of electromagnetic sensors and microstructure-magnetic modeling, is being invited to join a team
of researchers to work on an EU RFCS funded project OMA – On-line Microstructure Analytics. OMA is an exciting new collaborative EU project being led by Tata Steel and
involving twelve partners from across Europe, including the Universities of Manchester and Warwick from the UK.

The overall aim of the OMA project is to improve the quality of information on Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) microstructure and mechanical properties extracted from
existing inline sensing equipment by combining the strengths of multiscale material models, model inversion techniques and advanced data analytics. The specific work at the
University of Warwick will be to consider electromagnetic (EM) sensor signals and models for steel microstructures, in particular to advance the capability for texture measurement.
This will necessitate microstructure-magnetic modeling, microstructure characterisation and magnetic measurements. Close engagement with Tata Steel and the other
collaborators will be essential.

At WMG we are committed to supporting staff to achieve their potential. We currently hold the Athena SWAN Bronze Award and the University of Warwick holds an Institutional
Silver Award: a national initiative that recognises the advancement of gender equality, representation, progression and success for all in academia. We are supportive of staff with
caring responsibilities including a generous maternity/paternity/adoption/parental leave policy, onsite childcare facilities and the childcare vouchers scheme. We will consider
applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons
why it is not possible to do so.

of the University grade structure (£29,515). Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of the level 6
of the University grade structure (£30,395).
