May 23 Introductions, Syllabus (Dispositions), Print all of the documents from


Blackboard; Complete Field Experience Application;
Blackboard/Tegrity/Discussion Board; Complete “Information Sheet”
from Course Contract in BB (turn into Blackboard under Assignment).

Read handouts in Blackboard under Course Document on Foundations,


History of ECE, Philosophy and Notable Persons, Theories and Stages
of Language Development (Power Point and handouts from Language
folder).
Discussion Board 1 response due in Blackboard.

May 28 - 30 Test 1 available – last 1 hour.****


Review handouts on History and Language Development and
Developmentally Appropriate Practice handouts under Course
Documents. Read Chapter 1 in text Developmentally Appropriate Practice:
Focus on Kindergartners. Review for Test 1- study guide found in BB under
Course Information. All will be on first exam!

Begin reading Article Critique instructions and the rubric found in BB under
Assignments. Also, review the power point of Fisher Chapters 1-2 (Chapter
2 includes Cambourne’s Conditions of Learning and Philosophy- Found in
Bb under Course Document). Begin working on Software/Games
Evaluation Assignment.

June 2 Software/Games Evaluation due in Blackboard under Assignment.


Begin working on Article Critiques.
Discussion Board 2 response due in Blackboard.

June 6 Article Critiques due in Blackboard under Assignments:


Read Chapter 2 in the text DAP: Focus on Kindergartners.
Review Room Environment; Centers; Classroom Management; Red-Shirting
video; Discipline and Guidance; Autonomy, Social-Emotional Development
handouts in Blackboard under Course Documents. Also, read chapters 1-3
in the book Kindergarten and The Common Core.
Discussion Board 3 response due in Blackboard.

June 9 Parental Support Assignment due in Blackboard under Assignments:


Groups will be created to begin working on Unit (determine theme, writing
objectives, introductions and Rationale; authentic activities). Read chapter 3
and 4 in text DAP: Focus on Kindergartners. Review Curriculum and
Reading Language Art handouts in Blackboard under Course Documents.
Discussion Board 4 response due in Blackboard

June 11 - 13 Test 2 available in Blackboard.****


Review for Test 2 which includes curricular models, six learning domains,
and creating units/themes for a kindergarten classroom. Read Chapters 4 -5
in the text Kindergarten and the Common Core; Review Assessment, Unit
Blocks, and Plants handouts in Blackboard under Course Documents.

June 15 - 26 FIELD EXPERIENCE – course release, no assignments due.

June 30 Read chapters 6-7 in the book Kindergarten and the Common Core.

for Final Exam.
