BROCK® Mushroom Roof Vent

NOTE: Metric measurements are in millimeters and italic square parentheses

following the English measurement.

CAUTION! For a Vacuum System, venting must be added at the rate of 1 sq. ft. [.093 m ] 2

of vent per 1000 cfm of air.

For a Pressure System, venting must be added at the rate of 1 sq. ft. [093 m ] 2

of vent per 2000 cfm of air.

Failure to follow this instruction could cause damage to the Roof and/or Bin.
CAUTION! Operation of aeration fans without safety shutoff devices during periods of
high humidity and low temperatures can cause the air vents to frost over and
create a vacuum or pressure strong enough to seriously damage your roof
and bin.
Planning the Installation
Vents should be installed in Roof Panels before Roof Panels are attached to the
Substructure. For best results, Roof Vents should be installed on Roof Panels as
high up from the eave as possible. Remember that Mushroom Vents are larger at the
top than at the hole in the Roof Panel.
Carefully plan before cutting, so that Vents do not interfere with Stiffener Rings.
CAUTION! Cutting the Vent hole too close to the Stiffener/Walk Ring location may create
an interference problem between the Vent and the Ring. Avoid cutting Vent
holes near the Stiffener Ring placement area of the Roof Panel.
Use the chart on the back page for safe placement of the Vent hole before cutting it in
the Roof Panel.
IMPORTANT! Do not place a Vent (Panel) over a Rafter. The Rafter obstruction restricts the
airflow of the Vent.
Avoid the Roof Panels adjacent to and including the Roof Ladder Panel (this of course
includes the Manhole Panel). See Figure 1. Space Vents as evenly as possible, keeping
in mind the above restrictions.
IMPORTANT! Do not locate or cut a Vent hole in the Ladder Panel or either Panel adjacent
to the Ladder Panel.
Place these Vents in any configuration necessary, as long as they are not
over a Rafter, Ladder Panel, Manhole Panel or any obstruction.
