Answers to generative question (Activity 6)

How is it possible to obtain money from technological innovation to

eradicate poverty, giving specific examples?

Even published ideas ("papers", books and similar) with the possibility of being
an innovative idea someday, being functional prototypes and / or patents, that
can materialize in a business idea and generate money is the dream of every
inventor. Whenever there is innovation, the reality of a situation is one before
and another after innovation is fully enthroned in society.

It is also important to mention that innovation can be generated by individuals,

public or private organizations; with or without profit. In all of them, it is the
generation of measurable value based on a novel concept that allows
determining whether or not there is innovation and the size of it (its impact).
When it comes to entities with or without profit motive that have a commercial
activity, innovation can be defined very clearly and precisely; for example:
Innovation = New Idea & Billing. The invoice for the acquisition of a new product
or service from a current or a new organization created by this innovation
process, as a result of a new process and / or business plan, is without a doubt
a concrete test of generation of value from of a novelty. All innovation must
generate value at least for several people, therefore, innovation is essentially a
social activity. It is ultimately society that defines whether or not there is
generation of value, it is the ultimate judge who determines if there is one and in
what size. The greater the innovation, the greater the social impact, although
the idea is very popular, an innovation is not necessarily measured by its level
of novelty, without ceasing to be true that this is the other factor to be weighed
in these processes.
In the past it has been normal practice for public sector organizations not to
consider innovation as their responsibility, when in reality they should feel
obligated to be the most innovative. The performance of these entities should
be measured in terms of their direct social outcome and innovation should be
the mechanism by which a larger social result is achieved with the same budget
resources allocated. A more innovative public entity will be the one that will
obtain better results, since, if they manage to invest substantially in the
innovative processes, these will help the economic growth of the country,
generating more employment possibilities, with this it achieves that the entire
population has purchasing power and they can invest in a better quality of life,
quality education for their children, generating a chain reaction towards the
positive impact that is desired for the reduction of poverty.

Orienting what is produced in science and technology in an organization or in a

region as a priority to the solution of our most pressing social problems, is not
only a moral obligation, it is also undoubtedly the intelligent use of a source of
great opportunities to generate value in business and also for the production of
new capital social, and in this way generate a positive impact and especially
significant but paulativo in poverty, from public entities, private and from any
other nonprofit.

Hilando, is a project of the Center for Social Innovation -CIS- of the National
Agency for Overcoming Extreme Poverty (ANSPE), which aims to identify and
articulate social innovation actors and initiatives that improve the quality of life
of families in a situation of extreme poverty and, at the same time, generate and
strengthen the community around social innovation. All this through the
realization of face-to-face and virtual activities that allow to manage and
energize the actors interested in these issues.

This is how the Hilando project of the ANSPE was born, aimed at identifying
social innovations in the country and managing a community that would allow
dialogue among them to overcome extreme poverty. For the first phase of the
project, the ANSPE found in the Maloka Corporation an ideal strategic ally, with
experience in innovation, technology management and previous work with the
mapping methodology for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Antioquia, Bolívar, Cundinamarca, Huila and Valle del Cauca were the 6 priority
departments for the first mapping of actors in social innovation. To get the
attention of the innovators, the dissemination of the Hilando project, went to a
friendly language and close to the target audience with an easy-to-navigate
platform.
