Date of Announcement: 23.10.2020

Date of Submission: 6.11.2020
Total Marks:15

Dear Students,
It is hereby informed that the First Internal of Sociology will be a Research Paper
Submission. You are required to submit your research paper keeping in view the following
question and criteria for assessment:
‘In all ages and since time immemorial, men have lived with others of their kind in
something called societies. But change and development of both human knowledge
and society is also inevitable.’
In the light of this statement you are supposed to select one major social problem in
India that requires a change and prepare a research article on it.
Eg:
Social Problem ---- Honor Killing in India, Dowry Deaths, Atrocities against
LGBTQIA+

The article must be in following format:

1. Abstract stating why the problem is important compared to others: (200-300 words
max)
(An abstract is a brief but precise statement of the problem or issue, followed by a
description of the major findings and the conclusions reached)
2. Introduction (400-500 words)
(In introduction you need to introduce your topic. Create some context and background. Tell
your reader about what you plan to say in the paper. Also Explain why your topic is
important and relevant).

3. Literature Review on the problem proposed: (should be from scholarly and indexed
journals, books and periodicals) - (700-800 words)
(A literature review is a survey  of published books and articles that provides an overview of
the particular topic that you want to discuss. It provides a comprehensive summary of all the
books and articles that you have read on the topic for your paper).
4. Critical Argument, flow of the paper and Coherency (Between 700-800 Words)
In academic writing, an argument is usually a main idea. Link the points in your argument.
Include evidence. Consider counterarguments.

5. Conclusion (one’s own point of view): (Between 400-500 words)

In conclusion, a good rule of thumb is to restate your entire problem. Your conclusion should
also refer back to your introduction and summarize the main points of your paper and wrap
it all up with a final observation and suggestions if any.
