ISO 50001:2018 clauses

Clause 4. Context
of the organisation
As the starting point of the standard,

outcome of your EnMS – namely
improved energy performance.

ensure that you are knowledgeable

decide the extent of your system,
i.e., its scope and boundaries.
Remember the definitions for
these are given in the standard
(e.g., ‘. . . boundary is the physical

organisation is meant to be a strategic
activity so you understand the
important issues that can affect your
energy performance either positively
or negatively.
The final part of understanding
context in clause 4.4 requires you
to determine how you will meet the
requirements of ISO 50001, in other
words, planning what you are going
to do. Organisations plan in different
ways, but typical examples of a
system establishment plan include
the use of project management
systems, simple flow diagrams,

you will then work to implement,
maintain and continually improve it,
