Morality and Education in the
Changing Times

Education… It is generally
known as the art of sharing
and gaining knowledge,
skills, and judgment that
can be used in our world. In
this day and age, many
thought that education is a
requirement for an
individual to “belong” in the
higher class of people and to
become financially secured
in the future.
These ideas are true,
however, if we think about
it, it just bears a light
weight, it is an INSULT to
the real essence of
education. Is that all there is
to it in education? Money?
Power? Fame? These things
are just temporary. It is good
to have a motivation but
these thoughts would only
make having education in
vain.
In order to harness the real
essence of education, EACH
individual must be
influenced by factors that
are beyond material and
selfish desires but
something that would bring
an impact enough to
unleash the potential within
people.
Moral righteousness, love of
country, quality learning,
and unity… These words
may not get the attention of
most of the people in the
21st century but these as
influences can be a stepping
stone to fully grasp and
learn from the 21st century
education.
Knowing morality, the
knowledge of good and bad,
is not enough! Having moral
righteousness is a different
story… Being educated
combined with the moral
compass that will help you
on how to use it for the
greater good of the people:
family, friends, and
countrymen. Being morally
righteous will not lead you
to use your knowledge to a
path of selfishness and
corruption.
The next influence is the
love of country.
Modernization brought us
Education… It is generally

this day and age, many
people thought that
education is a requirement

education because we want
to be better and better not
only for our own desire, we
are striving as best as we
can to learn, to prosper, to
flourish as citizens for our
beloved motherland,
Philippines. We must never
stop so that we will have the
right to shout on the top of
our lungs: “MABUHAY
PILIPINO! MABUHAY
PILIPINAS!”
As we embrace our own
ways, customs, culture and
tradition, we must also be
open to all sorts of
knowledge. If we want to
have quality learning in
education, then we must be
open to the knowledge and
learning that comes from all
the parts of the world. The
world is ever changing we
must adapt to it, we must
not box ourselves in the
walls of the classroom nor
the borders of our country.
Learn from what learning
the global village has to offer
and don’t be afraid to
incorporate our own
education with new acumen
of knowledge. Remember:
education is about SHARING
and GAINING knowledge,
skills, and judgments that
will serve as our guide in
this ever growing global
community.
And lastly, this may be
gritting to your ears for
being repetitive but I’ll say it
anyway; “NO MAN IS AN
ISLAND”, this notion of “no
man lives for himself” can
also be applied in education.
We need unity in
education… NOT in the way
that students typically do in
EXAMS… We must unite in
a sense that we do our
assigned roles: The parents
provide the basic needs and
build the moral compass of
the learners; The teachers
devote themselves in
engraving the love of country
& Filipino Core Values and
Modernization brought us
new trends, cultures, and
customs that we do in order
to go with the flow of the
world. But, we must not
forget who we are: The
country of “Po and Opo”, the
country of world-class
talents, the country that
have genuine hospitality and
positive vibes, the country of
three stars and a sun, these
reflects who we are; the
FILIPINOS. We undergo
education because we want
to be better not only for our
own desire, but also we are
striving as best as we can to
learn, to prosper, and to

Philippines. We must never
stop so that we will have the
