Guide notes:
1. A permanent training venue is either a TWI or non-TWI training venue with fixed equipment
and facilities serving fixed methods. If the methods undertaken involve fixed equipment
then please complete Forms A and Form B.
2. A temporary training venue is a facility remote from the regional centre, where the equipment
and specimens are:
a) locked at the site (eg a company site) and the lecturer visits
b) removed each time with the lecturer (eg hotel conference room etc)
4. Portable methods and kit (eg Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing, Time-of-Flight Diffraction
etc) can be used at temporary training venues if they satisfy 2(b) above
5. For temporary venues for courses in Group B you need only provide proof of acceptable
facilities to the regional centre, who then inform TES and TWI CL.
6. All temporary venues will become classified as ‘permanent’ if the venue is used for training
10 or more times from the date of registration with TWI CL. If this transition to permanent
status occurs then a new extension to scope Form B for fixed installation equipment must be
submitted to TWI CL and adequate infrastructure available to support the fixed equipment. If
condition 2(b) exists then new facilities should be considered.
7. This course extension to scope application form applies to CSWIP approved courses, where
the training course material is CSWIP approved, using CSWIP approved lecturers but either a
new permanent or temporary venue is proposed
8. Course Group A refers to NDT courses like Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant
Inspection, Digital Radiographic Inspection etc. These courses can be supported by portable
equipment that can be moved to remote locations.
9. If courses are in Group A then you must complete this form for each individual method (one
method-one form).
10. Course Group B refers to courses such as Cathodic Protection and Welding Quality Control
Coordinator etc. Group B courses require only classroom and training support facilities (AV,
library etc) and specimens, but no equipment.
11. If the new venue provides courses only in Group B, then all methods in this group can be
listed on this one form.
