Topic HEAT AND TYPES OF HEAT TRANSFER Duration: 1 hour

Resources Science Learners Module in Heat, Laptop, videos, power point presentation, candle, 4 sets
Needed of glass, match, hot water, cold water, metal spoon, CD, food coloring, manila paper, pentel
pen, tape, cloth or kitchen gloves, concept notes and activity sheets.

group.
 Allowing the students to explore how heat travels
by:
A. CONDUCTION from hot to cool objects.
B. CONVECTION through liquid and gases or
warm water rises, cold water sinks.
C. RADIATION through the gas.

 Let the students explain their answers by group in
front of the class. Let them write their answers in
Manila paper.

EXPLAIN  Discussion Proper through video presentation.

-Heat is a form of energy that refers to the thermal energy


that is “in transit” or in the process of being transferred. It
is transferred to our surroundings every day. When the sun
shines brightly, we feel hot. Heat energy from the suns
reaches the earth’s surface.

-When something hot is placed next to something cold,


energy transfers from the hot object to the cold object
until both eventually come to the same temperature.
Generally, energy transfers naturally from a body of high
temperature to a body of lower temperature.

-There are different modes of heat transfer. Heat can be


transferred by conduction, convection or radiation.

-Convection takes place when there is rising of molecules


with higher temperature and sinking of the one with low
temperature. This may take place in liquid and gases.

-Conduction is the transfer of heat from one body to


another by direct contact.

-In radiation, heat travels in the form of waves that are


given off by hot objects.

NOTE: Video presentation will be used during discussion.

following task through differentiated instructions. Each
group will be given activity sheets.)

-Write your answer in a manila paper. Assign 1 member of


the group to discuss your answers. -Let the reporter of the group to
explain or discuss their answers.
