Suppose you are asked to join in a folk song singing contest, which of the
songs would you like to sing?

Ili-Ili TulogAnay Rosas Pandan Si Pelimon

Salidomay Chua-Ay Condansoy
Why did you choose that song? Was it because you like its melody,
rhythm, or tempo?
Yes! We choose a song to sing or a music to listen to, based on the
elements and style that the music has.
In this lesson, you will undergo music and music performance
evaluation. Using the rubrics on the elements of music, you will act as one of
the board of judges in a musical contest.

WHAT TO LEARN?
In order to fully understand and appreciate the music and music
performances of the Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan, and the Visayas music, let us
check or analyze some of them.
The basic elements of music are melody, harmony, rhythm, dynamic and
timbre.

● Melody – exact production of the tune or pitch

Does the musical interval sound right?
● Harmony –  accurate blending of sounds
Do the different pitched notes sound together and blend
perfectly?
● Rhythm - perfect timing
Is the duration of the note to be sounded being followed?
● Dynamics – variation and contrast in force or intensity of music
Can the loudness and softness be heard in the piece or song?

4
Is the emotion retained?
● Timbre – quality of sound
Is the tonal envelope (totality of the sound produced) of
instrument/s or voice/s better conveyed?

In this section, you will be given a task wherein you will apply
what you have learned in the previous sections. Your
performance and output will show evidence of your learning.
