Individual Reflection Report


My overview
This is my last semester and I am studying business project. On the first
day of class I was more curious and excited. Because I am going to
learn something new and interesting. As lecturer and tutorial suggest we
were supposed to play game against computer through smartsim. Then I
started to get ideas about the game need to be played. Then I
thoroughly study the manuals and watched sample videos in smartsim
page. Which provided me clear ideas about the steps and procedure
need to be followed while playing game. After getting a clear concept
about game I started to play single player with the name Gautam,
Prakash Inc. before I officially start to play game I looked market
information and other key report to get ideas about the market situation,
demand and forecast. Then I start to play the roll over on Mikes Bikes
Simulation and launch my own business.
1st roll over
For the first year we were asked to operate company with mountain
bikes. Where I entered the Retail price $700 which was equal to default
given price which is $700. Then I made a change in advertisement
where I spend $2419100. As advertisement is the way to increase
awareness to people about product. After that I spend $1070000 in PR
and decided to produce 24500units with the forecast sales of
24650units. Then I did my first rollover and I was excited to see the
result. The result was quite impressive because I was able to increase
shareholder value from $11.33 to $12.87. then again, I started to study
the market summary and check the changes made by my opponent. I
presume the change that computer might make in next rollover and
make a rough sketch about the changes I need to do in next rollover. I
even compare the allocation of amount in advertisement, PR and
distribution. As our main goal was to increase the shareholder value with
the increase in sales.

2nd rollover
After the increase in SHV in 1st rollover I was excited to proceed further
for 2nd rollover. I had more idea and understanding after 1 st rollover and
got clear ideas about the changes need to make before 2 nd rollover.
Then I decided to sell product at same price as before at $700. But I
decided to invest same amount in advertisement which is $2,419100.
Because advertisement increases the customer awareness about
product and increase in sales. I also need to be clear that increase in
advertisement also increases expenses and reduces profit. So, I should
have clear ideas about how much I need to spend in advertisement. I
also decided to spend equal amount as before I did for PR $1070000
and decided to produce 27000units and forecast to sell 24650units. I
have even decided to increase the invest in brand advertising and I
decided to invest 500000 which is double than last year. I also decided
to give equal margin of profit of 25% to all three firm who sells my
products. Then I did 2nd rollover and expected to get better value than 1 st
rollover. I was able to increase SHV and maintain my increase ratio. My
shareholder value increased from $12.87 to $18.89. whereas, mountain
top cycles SHV decreased from 11.87 to 11.24. Then I was more
confident and started to gather more ideas about market strategies.

After looking towards the result, I was happy to see the decision made to
increase expenses in advertisement and PR was good. I was moving
towards right direction and there was not any loss and was rise in value
of shareholder. But I was still low on other aspects like branding and
distribution and for the next rollover I must focus on that part.
3rd rollover
For the next decision I was more conscious and looked next tutorial
video to get better ideas what need to be done next. After watching that
video I was clear about what need to be done next and need to be
focused. Before I start next rollover, I looked towards the last year report
and compared the decision made by me and my opponent. As I saw
there was certain change need to be done and I also presumed the
certain sectors where my competitor can change looking toward the past
decision made. Then I decided to do more better that before and
decided not to change the price of product because mountain rage want
medium range of price. Then I spend $2419100 in Advertisement and
$1070000 in PR where I have planned to produce 28000 products and
looked forward to selling 24650. As I must produce according to the
market demand and forecast for the next year. Then I rollover next and I
get good result than before where I was able to increase shareholder
value and the value for mountain top bike was gradually decreasing.

After then result I came to know that the market segment and market
information plays a crucial role which provided information about the
change in market condition, market demand and the forecast of the
product. Which also shows the actual sold, lost and the market share.
We can even look after the competitor decision in market information.
We should frequently study about the market information and make
decision for next step.
4th rollover
During the fourth rollover I decided to launch a new product named rroad
for the first time. The result of the last year helped a lot to find the market
demand and the supply need to be done which helped to produce the
adequate number of product. It also helps to introduce new product in
the market. As I produce new product I need to have through study
about the market segment, demand and the price for the new product
and need to allocate adequate number of amount to advertisement and
branding. Various types of suggestions were provided regarding launch
of new product in market such as production cost, product specifications
and others. During the fourth rollover I decided to keep all the details
same for the RCRockHopper as before and set a price for rroad as
$2480 with the investment of $1350000 in advertisement and $2400000
in PR. Also decided to spend these amounts equally in three
advertisement media like magazine, TV and Newspaper. As I was
introducing new product I decided to produce 10548units and assumed
to sell all the product. The amount of production was decided with my
income level. As I have to have better income to allocate amount in
different sectors. During the fourth year I decided to improve efficiency
and quality so spend 1100000 in efficiency and 2400000 in quality of
product. I always want my product should be best and provide best
product to customer. Then after the rollover shareholder value increased
impressively to $49.86. I was doing better that before but still need to do
better in next year.

5th rollover
As my profit was increased in last roller over and my shareholder value
also gradually increasing. I was getter more information and the ideas
and concept that need to be implement. As I have introduced new
product I was able to gain more SHV value so again I decided to
introduce another new product with the name yyouth. As I introduced
more products I need to gather more information regarding the price,
demand, production level, advertisement, market firm and the market
segment. Now I need to observe market information for all the products.
In the fifth year for my first product I did some changes in some parts like
I decided to produce 30000 unit and forecast to sell 24650 units. Where I
decided not to change anything in my rroad product because I was doing
good and want to continue forward with the same amount of investment.
I fixed a price for my newly launched product yyouth for $415. In which I
decided to spend 2500000 in advertisement and allocate invested
amount in equal proportion in their advertisement media. Then $960000
was invested in PR because advertisement and PR helps to aware
people about the product and encourage them to buy that product. I
decided to produce 28000units and sell all the produced product
because I don’t want to hold my product in warehouse. As now I have to
produce three products and I was able to sell the product without loss
and meet the forecast. So, decided to increase the production capacity
by 8000units. Then I was still able to beat the opponent and was
successful to increase the SHV to $62.71.

6th rollover
As I was impressively increasing the shareholder value I was able to
maintain the market position of my product. I have don’t research and
detail study of the product but still need to focus more to raise the
shareholder value. Our main aim in to raise the shareholder value by
gaining profit for the product. To gain profit we need to make correct
decision so that people likes our product and we can encourage them to
buy our product. As much as we can sale our product we can increase
out percentage level and increase SHV. For the six year I didn’t have
any big changes in all three products I was selling my product as I was
expected and I decided to maintain that before I go further and make
any decision. My decision can make positive and negative impact on my
business. So before I make any decision I should have detail ideas and
plan for that I should and broad knowledge of market summary. During
the 6th year rollover I was able to increase SHV of my company by three
times than the competitor. Now my shareholder valued reached to
$93.18. I was still not satisfied and want to increase the shareholder
value.

7th rollover
With the successful launch of two new product and raise in shareholder
value from $11.33 to $93.18 was quite impressive. I was continuously
able to improve in SHV I was also spending large number of amount in
advertisement and other sectors. Now I have to control my excess
expenses and reallocate the amount in desire sector. Which will help to
increase profit. Now I should mainly focus on advertisement and public
awareness because it helps to explore the product in market and
increase the sell. If the number of sell increase then profit level will also
increase which will make huge effect in production and forecast and
profit level.
Even in the 7th rollover I dint make any huge changes and decided to
continue with the last year decision but thoroughly observe the market
segment and the competitor strategies. Which helps me to make plans
for next year the also shows the areas where improvement is need and
where to deduct the excess expenses. After the 7 th rollover my SHV
cross more than $100 which is now $122.89. I was even able to provide
dividend of $11.16 per share. Which shows the great improvement of the
company and can encourage people to make investment in company.
Now I should be able to maintain this and continue to improve the SHV.

8th rollover
This is the last rollover where I have continued the process of looking
towards different result and reports. Those reports are crucial to identify
the market position of the product. Customers reviews and their
awareness about the product. As I have been continuously increasing
the shareholder value I was maintaining to achieve my goal and able to
make my company stable in market. With the last rollover my
shareholder value reached to $151.77.

My experience and achievement


As I was doing this assignment I get different knowledge and ideas
which I will definitely use in my multi player assignment. Now I am able
to give my ideas and views to my group member and suggest them to
take certain action with the detail study of market information. Some of
the crucial points I learned during doing this assignment.

1. It helped to identify the market position and market segments.


2. Identifying the advertisement media channel and proper allocation
of amount in different channel with the information gathered from
market summary.
3. Increase public relation.
4. Find out the target market and Maintaining proper distribution of
product
5. How to identify the market demand and maintain the production
level and increase the production capacity with increase in
demand.
6. Increase efficiency level and improve in branding.
7. Reduce closing inventory
8. Detail study about product before launch in market.
9. Financial decision should be made with detail study where
investment in improvement in product might be better that paying
dividend.

Conclusion
As I played this game I enjoyed and get broad ideas about the launch of
product set the price and gain profit. It helps me to make certain
strategies and implement them in order to increase Shar holder value.
This gave me broad concept and plays a vital role in order to help me in
multiplayer game. I will definitely implement the ideas I learned in single
player and try not to repeat mistake made inn singe player.
