ACTIVITY 3:

1. Which of the core teachings of Mahayana Buddhism you appreciate the

most? Cite at least (2)

- I appreciate the Generosity (Dana paramita) and Patience (Ksanti

paramita)

2. Give reasons for your appreciation of such core teaching?

- I appreciate these two core teachings of Mahayana Buddhism simply

because generosity or dana paramita, represents kindness to others, it
is the willingness to give without regret and expectations of reward,
the willingness to give whether that be possession, skill or time. And
with patience or ksanti paramita it is because people that have
patience usually enjoy life better than those who doesn’t. Being
patient with others, enduring hardship and accepting the truth of life
deserve to be appreciated.

3. Cite a situation based on personal experience in which this core

teaching/s is evident.

- My mom would call or message me at random to see how my day has

been going. Not only does this allow me to vent my emotions, but it
also gives me a break from life, allowing me to just sit back and
speak to her. On her part, I would consider it an act of generosity and
patience.
REFLECTION:

1. Tzu Chi Foundation shows generosity through charity which greatly reflect
the teaching of Mahayana Buddhism. The rich can obtain blessings and joy
while the poor can receive security and peace. The willingness to give
without regret and expectations of reward, the willingness to give whether
that be possession, skill or time.

2. The Tzu Chi Foundation has remarkably dedicated themselves to attaining

Buddhahood. They demonstrate the Mahayana Buddhism ideals in its actions
and illuminates universal love for all sentient beings in our daily life. It
gives aids to everyone, regardless of race or color, and welcomes people of
every belief. It sees the world as one family and everyone who is suffering
as worthy of help.

3. The Tzu Chi Foundation serves with compassion and patience. They know
the feeling of enduring hardships and suffering in life. With love,
compassion, joy and selfless giving they eliminate suffering.
ACTIVITY 2:

The most important learning I gained from the lesson was about the
teachings of Mahayana Buddhism where I greatly appreciate the generosity or dana
paramita and patience or ksanti paramita.

In my poster you can see a head with a clock and an hourglass, that
obviously represent patience. In Mahayana Buddhism, patience refers to not
returning harm, rather than merely enduring a difficult situation. It is the ability to
control one's emotions even when being criticized or attacked. people that have
patience usually enjoy life better than those who doesn’t. Being patient with others,
enduring hardship and accepting the truth of life will make an individual happy.
Also, in the poster you can see two hand holding out a heart and coins that
represents generosity. Generosity in Mahayana Buddhism is believed to help train
the mind in a way conducive to attaining enlightenment. Giving serves as a way to
eliminate one's greed and ill-will. By giving away what is valuable, you reduce
attachment by letting them go.
